Anyone who trades Cleary won’t be able to get him back in when he returns. Too much will happen between then and now

    There’s my take

Very true LB but is 5 rounds of Cleary, assuming hes back in 4 weeks, worth more or less than 9 weeks of Tohu and some cash?

TU:Cleary and TPJ to Turbo and Fifita-leaves 6 trades and 209k
    TD:Cleary to Turbo and hold the 2nd trade-leaves 7 trades and 419k

Alternatively I could bring in Taupau or Thompson as more or less a straight swap from TPJ.

Was waiting for someone to point out that you don't score 0 unless you only have 16 players Laughing

    There’s my take

I'm assuming worst case scenario here. I'm content with honestly not having Cleary for the rest of the year

Diagnosis is 4 to 6 weeks (despite the dodgy Penrith physio)

Penrith have shown already they can win without Cleary, especially now that they still have the rest of their Origin contingent. Don't forget they beat Melbourne full strength (minus Pappy and Grant but Grant hasn't been there much this year anyway) - and they did it without Cleary and Api. There's no doubt Penrith will win the vast majority of their games for the rest of the year with or without Cleary

If I'm Penrith, I would want Cleary the fittest he can be for the finals push - not to win some regular season games when they can wrap up a top 4 spot without risking him.

Assuming he is out for the full 6 weeks, then he's not back until Round 22 so you'll get 4 rounds out of him to end of the year. I don't think it's worth holding whatever amount of cash (400-500k) in your bank just to get him in when you can use it NOW to beef up your team elsewhere

Everyone in the game loses the basic Captain option, but Tohu, Fifita, Crichton or the flavour of the week matchup e.g. SJ v Broncos should suffice

If you have low trades then yes I can see the logic in holding him - but I'm still trading him out even though I only have 7 trades left. Simply can't have 1.2mil sitting there not being used for 6 weeks. If you have say 10+ trades then a trade out is a no brainer IMO

So going to trade Cleary to Burton. Then upgrade Flegler this week as well.. but to who?

I can afford anyone.. but looking at DCE, Ponga, Hughes, McCullough, Cook, Taumalolo. Outside of these guys I have the usual guns.

Really dont need any position as unless both Trbojevic and Tedesco dont play then I am down to 16.

    Also accepting the challenge

You only need 2 trades. At his average and as autocaptain, trading out 2 * 720k players for fit Cleary + 228k is worth it. That's my worst case scenario.

Ponga as a huge POD, if he goes big it'll jump you up the rankings as his current ownership is so low. Groin injury is a bit of a concern though. .

If you have the trades available, and from reading here, many do. It's a no brainer IMO, and you will get him back in if you want him. The kicker for these people will of course be that Cleary may well be out for more than a month in which case, even bigger gains!

Makes me feel bloated at WFB with Tedesco, Trbojevic, Ponga, Hynes and Walsh. Though Hynes is limited in time really.

The other big one would be DCE as my halves are Moses, Burton, and Gamble. Though with Broncs injuries Gamble may be there awhile now and keep making cash.

Deliberating whether I trade Cleary to D.fifi now, and trade TPJ to Thompson next round or not. Currently I have TPJ to Thompson now and then trade Cleary out next round for some $$ and the flavour of the week R17 players. I'd assume D.Fifi wouldn't play R18 but I do have plenty of cover in that instance. My three weakest players are S.Critta, Verrills, and Jones, with a solid 18th man in Schuster/CHN.

Does anyone want to weigh in on this? D.fifi now vs in R19 essentially. He should be good for 60-65 this week against the Raiders, doesn't seem to rip them apart like other teams.

Not sure it's been mentioned but Cotric is out for the year with a torn ligament in his toe or something.

We all just have to hope that Burton makes enough cash that makes it a little bit easier to get Cleary back in

If you can get Cleary back in 2 trades (and you have 2 trades to spend on doing it) then that is a win.

In my mind, Burton is the obvious trade in for Cleary (if you don't have him already)
He's going to get bulk kick metres whilst Cleary is out and should score well (if Cleary ends up not coming back, then you have a cheap season keeper (who yo can play at CTR)

He is also someone you can trade out again when Cleary comes back.
If you trade in Fifita for Cleary - who will you trade out again if/when Cleary comes back?

What does you whole squad look like mate? How many trades and how much cash. It's tricky to give advice without the full picture.
