Shit now I'm a bit on the fence re Schuster... Maybe I'll just hold onto Brooks, who despite being an average footballer, definitely has fantasy upside and is a healthy lad who plays round 13 and no origin...

Ugh both choices have Nathan Merritt

Fui, Koala, Uto, Moylan or Walker for 17th man? I’m thinking Walker’s good for 50 on debut. Anyone else starting him? Cheers, Slug.

Agree Mulv. He loves a scoot as well and any backline injury likely means he goes 80 with Mbye covering there

Agreed. He’s got another week or two. Walters will be available soon along with Mbye already hanging around. I was trading him, but went Avo instead after he wasn’t named. Bank not as healthy now though. Slug.

Most people trading a CTR in this week is to replace Bird, Averillo (or both)

This is my opinion. I have Bird, Roberts and Averillo
I probably f'ed up getting Averillo over Niu, but them's the breaks and have to deal with it. If I had Niu right now to play with Roberts I would not even think about trading in another CTR

    A. Lets say I trade in someone like Momo. Next week I have Momo, Bird and Roberts. Don't want to play all 3 in my 17, so one of them is a waste. I don't want to trade Bird out this week because he looks like he'll be a good scorer for his price going forward. So then I keep playing Momo with Bird and have Roberts as backup. Not the worst thing. Tigers are inconsistent, but should play well enough in enough games for him to get some points and make cash.
Probably not the worst option, but Momo costs $447k and isn't easy to bring in.

    B. Trade in Niu, who is at least affordable. Not going to make a lot of money, but should make at least $50k given current scoring. $100k cheaper than Momo which is the big plus so easier to bring in. Them leave him as NPR until a decent option turns up

    C. Abandon plans to get Fifita this week and get Peachey. Set and forget CTR, looks set for a season long role in the middle. whether starting or bench he should score well. not going to make a tonne of cash, so probably not a priority over players who are going to jump in cash

    D. Just bring in Walker + Fifita and play with 16 this week. Costs maybe 30 points this week but much better for cash generation. Won't have any CTR cover going forward so may be forced into trades in future weeks if Bird/Roberts go down again.

I'm going to go with option B or D.
With option B, can still trade Averillo to Walker next week, and lets me have a look to make sure he is definitely worth it.
Bit sad spending week 4s trades just bringing in guys I should have started with for $150k extra, but better to correct mistakes than ignore them and make things worse.

Still interesting option I never considered

Averages over 30 at 5/8 top from a larger sample.

And he averages over 30 as a centre, 38 as a fullback. His rep for bad scores comes from wing and interchange games.

Job security is the concern but there’s retirement talk with Morgan and I don’t see Clifford getting the spot back anytime soon

Other CTR option is Ben Hampton

Cheap as chips, but iffy job security and iffy scoring potential.

Was a good halves scorer back in 2014/2015 but has multiple single figure scores to go with his 30+ average, and he could be dropped/benched/shuffled to wing at any point.

Bit disappointed Crichton and Teddy couldn't turn any of his passes into tries/line breaks to give him extra attacking points.

If I get Hampton instead of Momo that opens up being in price range to get Walker+Haas next week for likes of Liddle+Isaako or some similar combo

If he takes his chance Payten will reward him. He doesn't have to raise the bar that high to improve on Cowboys start to season

People umming about Schuster, just watch the Manly Dragons game last week. Schuster is clearyl one of the Manly's best players. He really is forcing his selection on merit

This isn't like asking for Taupau to get more minutes just to benefit your Fantasy team without dubious real world impact. Schuster at edge forward is one of Manly's best 13 players.

He is going to play enough minutes in the medium term to make money, and score well enough to be in your 17 whilst doing so. He won't score 60 every week, but there is no one else at that price or lower who is going to score better. and His price will jump again this week so every week you delay will cost you heaps.

Walker is the only one I would possibly trade in over Schuster, and that is only if the extra cash allows you a better 2nd trade. Schuster this week, Walker next will be better for points and cash if you can only get one.

Just remember that Hampton's best first grade scores in the halves came in 2014/2015 when the Cowboys were actually a good team.

His scores last year when cowboys were not winning games are not exactly amazing.

Playing with Drinkwater he should at least have a decent base in kick metres, but I wouldn't expect miracles

With Clifford at Knight's next year, is his time at the Cowboys now done?

If they are going to challenge for the finals then they'll name their best team whoever is in it, but once they are out of contention may as well prepare for future years (which doesn't necessarily mean Hampton)
