892 for the round, sitting at 11,094 overall.  Last weeks trades went OK (especially Davey -> Schuster) and we now have $284k in the bank to play with.  Feel free to post trade ideas below.

With $284k in the bank, we could upgrade Lam to anyone $716k or below. Or downgrade Lam to Walker if named and add another $204k to the bank for an even bigger upgrade as our second trade.

We need a MID, or an EDG to allow Crichton to MID
We could play Fifita and Riki as EDG with Crichton MID and no cover, but proper cover would be better

Lam + Averillo out for Walker and Gun is my vote, just not sure who that gun should be.

Scores haven't been great but I don't feel we are in a bad position. Certainly we have decent scoring potential in our team

Averillo to Walker. Hold Lam as a loop this week then use the bank to upgrade to Moses or Matterson next week (this assumes they're playing and lose cash. Writing on Monday). Don't think 2RF cover would be that big a deal if we opt for a gun half instead of a forward, because Schuster will surely have DPP in a couple of weeks.

This was my feeling - can’t be playing two MID coin goats.

The problem is there isn’t really any clear value guns in those positions. I think there are three approaches
    1. we get what we pay for e.g. Murray
    2. try and guess whether someone like Papa or AFB is going to hit fantasy form
    3. gamble on a sub-gun like Elliot or iPap making the leap to gun status

Looking at MIDs and EDGs, assuming Lam -> Walker, if we sold Averillo, we've got $780k to play with.

DPP would be nice but it seems like relatively slim pickings eg Harris (who we can't afford unless we upgrade say Hoy), Murray, TPJ, Barnett. We could start looking at byes and consider someone who plays round 13 eg Twal, Matterson, Klemmer. Or the 'sub gunners' as Rob suggests.

As Rhino says Moses is an option, but with Cleary, Walker, Schuster, Hoy, Averillo (depending on trades) we've already got a lot of depth (if not quality) at HLF.

With Bird out this week, a set and forget CTR (assuming such a thing exists) is another option eg Peachey, Momirovski, Opacic.

I'd be keen for Averillo out (does he really force his way back into the side and even then does he start scoring well?)
but he also provides a good looping option given he plays late in the round.

If we're thinking of bringing in a centre we can always have a look at Niu's score first and if it's trash trade someone above him in the 18-20.

Averillo to Twal/Papali'i would be my vote.

I would push Crichton up to Alvaro's MID spot, Riki to starting 2RF
Niu can fill in for Bird this week, don't see any point getting a 4th CTR

That leaves you with 2 spots (16th + 17th) to fill
Lam + Averillo out for SOS + SWalker and play both

Gives you 152k extra to the warchest, a couple of high ceiling potential scorers to make moves into the table
The best chance we have is to get some of these cut priced keepers in the next few weeks, so don't want to tie up all our funds now

While 436k is costing potential points this week, it allows way more options next week and hopefully a clearer picture on where to upgrade/spend it

For a community it keeps things exciting having more options

    Lam to walker
    Liddle to harris

Unless we want to wait a week to get matterson then liddle to sos that gives over 600k to make moves for maybe matterson and moses next week or go big on hass

I don't mind these trades at all.

Sitili Tupouniua worth a punt. Still undervalued, and looks to have improvedhus floor from previous years.

Don't worry about trading in a centre IMO.

    Agree.

Niu and Roberts playing this week, back to Bird next week. There is no need to waste a trade hoping to gain a few points from someone in form.

This week at least, Crichton as a starting MID can be his own EDG cover if Riki or Fifita are a late out. He can be exchanged with Stefano or Alvaro down at the bottom of the emergencies and will then AE back into EDG if need be.

It would give those MID coin goats another week to make a bit more cash and allow trades to be made elsewhere this week

OK thanks, a few options to be canvassed. I'll try to set out in the next thread. But basically:

    - do we trade out Lam to Walker? or Averillo to Walker and hold Lam as a loop for this week/upgrade candidate for next week?
    - do we hold the second trade, trade to SOS building the warchest for a gun next week (Haas/Moses/Matterson), upgrade now to Twal/JPap/IPap/AFB/Sitili, or go bigger this week ie Liddle to Harris?

If we only make 1 trade, you can make a case for trading either Lam or Averillo to Walker

2nd trade (if we spend it) can be either bring in gun or double cow (SOS best choice for double cow?)

I like the double cow option.
Lam and Averillo to Walker and SOS.
You don’t need another centre, and I’d steer well clear of Matterson.
A big war chest for a gun next week. I think Tohu would be the best fit.
