I feel I was racing (Ponga traded in at 861k hahah), but have put the brakes on a bit now as it dawned on me late trades may be even more useful than usual.

Having said that I think the overall winner is the one person out of hundreds who has raced to their 17 that manages to avoid all future injuries. Skill early then mega luck late.

I was pumped with my team after having brought in Mitchell, Best and Teddy. A back five of Teddy, Ponga, Turbo. Ctrs. Mitchel, Best. Chrichton and Capewell (in 2rf) as cover.

Then it all just turned to custard. Turbo, Horse, Moses, Capewell, Katoa all go down. Tapine and Teddy had a week or two off. Mitchel went back to been Lazy. Best was not at his best.

And the people i brought in to clean this shit show up? Drinkwater, Young, Avarillo, Clune, Heatherington.

    What a debacle

The Young trade in is much more palatable if you pretend the cash that Tevaga is losing each week is instead being made by Young Evil or Very Mad

Young's next month of footy looks pretty good for the Raiders.

I think he will still get a couple more chances because I know he is a 40+ scorer. Hope the last two are just outliers.

Teddy is fucking me over but I just don't want to spend 920+ on him. Although I might be waiting a while for him to come down.

With Herbie injured I can grab a look at Fermor tonight. Anything under 35 and I will take Luai against the Cows.

Young just seems lazy across the park. It's like Ricky has pumped his tyres up and he he thinks he can just coast. I don't know, maybe I'm biased and salty. In his defence, he doesn't get many runs of the footy. When he does he goes okay. Adequate 18th man if you can swing it.

I'll be holding Young for the next few weeks at least, but he will probably spend a little while as 18th man.

It came to the point in my season where I could either have Haas or Teddy and I went with Haas. Can't justify paying that much for Teddy when I know he will eventually score in the 30s

I absolutely love my WAGs team.

    Grant
    Carrigan Taupau
    Matto Lolo Murray
    Fogarty Munster(c)
    Lomax Niu
    Papy Ponga Teddy

    Koro Robson Thompson Starling
    Herbie Staggs Hoffman Magoulias

Fogarty to a gun HLF soon and then one more bench spot and she is probably done.

Im surprised by everyone slagging Young. I thought he played okay. I wasn't watching super closely, but he seemed fairly involved. Surprised to read here somewhere he only had 5 hit ups though. Looked busier than that.

I was a bit concerned with Young's lack of tackling technique. Often opting for the bump instead of the wrap around No

I'm surprised Young only had 2 missed tackles in the stats.
Credit to him for taking Teddy down a couple times though

Looking at Young's 70+ minute games from last year, his missed tackles are actually down - had 1, 3, 5, 6 last year, compared to  2 each in the past 2 games. Metres gained slightly down from 80ish to 60ish, but he's only ever run for over 100m once. Tackle count fairly steady in the mid 30s - mid 40s on a good day.

It's the tackle busts that are missing to push his scores into the 40s. Had 1, 4, 4, 2 in 70+ min games last year, plus a couple of interchange appearances where he had 3-4 tbs. Only has 4 total this year (none last night). Needs to get back to that.

It's the fantasy goggles mate. He has some dumb penalties and missed tackles in him but even though his score was the same as last week, I do think he played a lot better last night than last week.

His TB ability was one of the reasons I took the punt on him. Needs some more ball first though but as I said before, he's a strong runner.

If you're team is fairly average. You've wasted to many trades on Ctrs and missed the quality cows. Is it crazy to start considering trades like Haas out?

My thought is. Haas (70av) and someone like JTB (37av) (sitting in my 18) would raise about 1.4m. I could get Hunt (50) and Twal(60av) for about that 1.4m.

This would let me have a two decent players in my 17, rather than one awesome one and one average on outside of the 17.

Its not ideal, but i need better balance across the team.

While I hoped for more, Young was always a punt (as was Butcher) I feel better about giving him a few more weeks now that I don't have to play him in my 17 but as soon as Jazz drops a bit (and more importantly plays more minutes) he will be on his way*

*If this year has taught me anything it's that this will not go according to plan

I agree Havili wont be fantasy relevant because you could have got Starling who played same minutes and will score similar for over 100k cheaper.
