Am I off point for picking up Ponga when I can afford Cook?
Obviously Cook is the better pick in a stand-alone points matchup for the rest of the season, but my WFB is Teddy, Pappy, Crichton and the thought of getting Crichton out of the 17 seems a better move than omitting a JTB/Rudolph if Cook comes in.

    Anybody disagree with my logic?

WT Winfield wrote:Ponga's gotta be a higher points differential over Crichton than Cook over whoever on your bench I imagine Pookus?

Yep agree with this. In a vacuum give me Cook over Ponga, but squad balance is important and Ponga>Crichton is a much bigger gap than Cook>JTB/Rudolf

Contact training is stage 5 of the 6-stage concussion protocol (stage 6 being actually playing a game), so was that today or tomorrow

    Exactly.

Had to be in Stage 5 (contact) today to be able to play tomorrow, so assuming that is confirmation (unless he sat out for another reason??)

Personally, if I was Robbo, why would you risk him.

They might only win by 59 now....

So this is pretty much all pointing towards Ted not playing by the looks.

What everyone else said. Aside from adding Haas, the biggest improvements you can make to a squad seem to be Teddy over any WFB, and then Ponga over any WFB other than Teddy.

Not to make light of a serious issue, but I copped plenty of concussions playing football and was right to play pretty much straight away, although maybe those concussions did have an effect.

Be really surprised if it actually happens. I assume there can't be contested scrums, so I can't see how a RL team doesn't win easily.
If there are lineouts, union team just kicks out and gets the ball back every time.

Surprised how few large scores JAC had last year. 3 above 50, 1 above 55

Could a RL team just park a few players back (like wingers dropping back late in the set) and trust their remaining 10 or so players to defend? Not commit to rucks (if there's rucks) and just back their defense to number up and wait for errors?

Means kicks from inside the 22 would be hard to defend, but otherwise could work.

Will happily admit not an expert on union, just think a hybrid game would remove any technical/forward advantage through necessity and speculating that an emphasis on athleticism and workrate favours the version of rugby where the forwards more closely resemble backs.
