This. Qld decided last night that schools would remain open (and nothing about not sending your kids) and now the Teachers Union is trying to get them to shut schools down. On schools, there's a lot of very good evidence supporting keeping them open, but most people are seeing this crisis as black or white when in reality it's all grey

This again is the same issue here in NZ, Govt have said schools are to remain open and the experts as well as some 130,000 teachers, via the Teachers Council, have asked for them to be closed.

If they want to keep schools open for kids of essential workers, then come out and say exactly who should be at school.
By giving people the choice, they can't then go and complain that people make the choice they didn't want

It's also not ideal for teachers, who have no idea what the fuck they are supposed to be doing

for every child of an essential worker (eg healthcare) they could just run a daycare type set up (for those that have no other option) with a skeleton crew of teachers at the school (or combine school resources in localised areas)

everyone else stay the fuck home.

Just face-timed my daughter in the UK - she's a teacher. This is the system they have there, essential workers kids only and they are basically child-minding them - no teaching, just looking after them

Yeah, I work in the sport and rec field so this whole thing last night with Morrison is a real head scratcher, especially since he says schools should stay open. I have a lot of casual staff so today isn't going to be fun at all.

I agree people not taking the social distancing thing seriously but the mixed messages around it all, it's easy to see how people are confused. He says the stuff like 'go to the footy' but no crowds over 500 from Monday. WTF? Now he tries to come down hard like aren't doing the right thing. Yes, people are stupid and have no common sense about this but now we are all getting stripped of our livelihoods because people can't follow their loose and somewhat contradictory guidelines? Hmmm.....

Yeah it's WFH for me, and we've kept our kid home since last week.

Massive crack down this weekend as sun came out and all the idiots congregated in parks beaches etc

Have banned all public parks from tonight and public footpaths next if not adhered to

Wife is teacher and can confirm essentials workers kids only from tomorrow, I’m working from home so got kids with me
