Unless the Government gives the order to suspend the competition I think the NRL should proceed as normal

The Beeb in the UK are reporting the Melbourne GP definitely OFF. The decision was announced 8 hours after it was made, by which time Vettel & Raikkonen had already flown home. Could have told the fans earlier!

We could be waiting until at least July, meaning NRL will either be cancelled or will be played right through until Christmas.

It's possible to have 12 round season with a playoff system. At least we'll get to max-trade every week (if we survive).

First major sporting event in NZ has been called off just now. It is the Piha Pro surfing - which is genuinely sponsored by Corona. Beer

An event on the lower tier surf tour but had attracted a lot of local attention and some big names - Kelly Slater is already in NZ.

Nothing in Townsville yet... Players have been told there will be no selfies with the crowd tonight. Business is as usual here in Townsville... I wonder if business will eventually shut down here?

The annoying thing is going to be that if a bunch of stuff gets cancelled, and then things aren't too bad, lots of people will say "See - we overrracted" rather than think "It was because of the reaction that things didn't get too bad"

Happened with Y2K. The reason it wasn't a problem was because people put a lot of effort into making sure it wasn't a problem, and now everyone thinks it was a hoax. It didn't help that some idiots thought that toasters would stop working and planes would fall out of the sky (the equivalent of people buying 2 years supply of toilet paper all at once)
But there were a lot of serious problems that only got fixed because people put effort in.

i think by the end of the month, Australia is more likely than not to have restrictions similar to Italy. No mass gatherings of people, cut out non-essential travel.

    This.

But I personally wouldn't mind a couple weeks isolation. Catch up on some TV, maybe some gaming haha

Remember the US dealt with this terribly so probably not a good benchmark for flow-on effects. In good news, it doesn't look like the total numbers are increasing dramatically. Isolation would be awful, I won't make any money Sad

Yeah I agree, they should have called everyone at 2AM to say "F1 is cancelled, gnite"

So in terms of Stimson job security, that's probably a $2million question answered.
Doesn't mean the least valuable (Okunbur) isn't thrown under the bus as a sacrifice with CHN staying quiet a few weeks to let it blow over though.

In fantasy terms, if we play for 1 or 2 weeks, then a 2 month break, and then resume - would they make us keep the same teams, or would they start again with a new comp?

Whilst being the least valuable, Okunbur also has the more serious offense

Interesting. If its only one round and then a break that long, then they might have some pressure to just reset the game and start from scratch.

And when I mean pressure, just people hounding them on fb/twitter/etc.

It kind of changes things a great deal because a bunch of players will have returned from injury by then.

I could see it going 1 of 3 ways...

    1) Fantasy resets and everyone starts from scratch

    2) People keep their round 1 score but effectively will get to select a new team once the season resumes

    3) Fantasy 2020 is cancelled.

I don't see them making people keep the same teams...

Then again if it does "reset" we wont have the chance for cows to make as much money and what not. Really has so many repercussions for pretty much everything.

I think this could work (assuming a full round is completed), and maybe just get "unlimited" trades for the round the season resumes.
