NRL are just putting Hynes where Hughes was, imo. Paps would have to start...?

I think the Storm have done this a few times with team updates - just bring in the player as a straight swap, then the reshuffle comes in at kickoff. I’d be 99% sure Paps starts

No way he can’t be rubbed out, given it’s the THIRD TIME this season and Gurgess got 9 weeks and effectively a one way ticket to SuperLeague.

I don’t want to see that return of punchups and get squares, but in their absence the judiciary really needs to crack down on grubby shit like this. Worth longer bans that careless tackles IMO. Those are at least a part of the game poorly executed, whereas this is just dirty.

Also sick of fines for trips too, sticking a leg out should be a suspension as well.

So they haven't named a replacement on the bench yet? I assume it will be Liddle or Taylor...

They already have Papenhuyzen and then Earl in the 21, I don’t see why they need another guy in the 21.....

eh? Hughes is out. They are just covering bases/being prepared by replacing him in their squad.

I think he means they don’t need an exemption to cover Hughes.

Has an exemption ever been knocked back?

They do, because he wasn't named on Tuesday. Unless you mean that Hynes won't actually play - that's true, he probably won't be in the final 17. Just playing it safe, I guess, to ensure they have a full 21 of fit players to pick from.

No reasonable exemption request will ever be knocked back (eg a top player is ruled out mid week and a lower grade player is to come in).

The purpose was to stop 'star' players, who may or may not return from injury, from not being named but then being a secret/sudden inclusion on game day.

That makes sense, but I think there is a view out there it’s meant to be for emergency cover only. So in this case Hughes can be replaced by Papy who can be replaced by Earl, and therefore no exemption should be needed to bring in Hynes because he’s not needed. But I think this is more sensible.
