Something else - QLD do not have a noted goal kicker. They may need to pick Holmes over Boyd just for his ability to goal kick. Other than that, there isn't really any noted kickers.

Maybe Kevy told Smith he is considering DCE and thats why Smith has rage quit.

That’s a really good point. Munster used to kick in QCup didn’t he?

Is JTrbo playing one less game still a better option for overall points?
Anyone think he will play some reduced minutes around his origin games?

Surgess started the game on fire & nearly scored a big point try. He did miss game time with a hia assessment but after he came back after the hia I thought he wasn't as busy as pre hia. Maybe the head knock had an affect on him.

Deadset Brad Fittler must think he is the luckiest guy going around at the moment. Picks up the job when all three protagonists from the last decade retire at once and suddenly NSW players are killing it for their clubs. Feel sorry for Daley who got shunted a year before they all retired.

Surely with NSW players in form, QLD players/club teams out of form, 3 of QLD's greatests (and two future immortals) retiring at the same time ...... and not having to play at Suncorp until Game 3, EVERYTHING points towards a resounding NSW series victory.

If the NSW boys don't win this year, then they should be taken out the back and shot!

Seriously though, I wonder if this changes DCE's chances, if it is true that Smith did not want DCE, and did not get along with him..

DCE is the best 7 QLD have.

I still think probably not, but it does make me a little nervous about bringing him in this week.

Interesting that it is Macca vs Friend this week. They'd be the only two in serious consideration, even though Friends form is way off.

I reckon Smith told Kevvie he was considering this earlier in the season, hence Kevvie leaving the Broncos.

Why would it affect his job at the Broncos?

When he quit he said he didn't want his affiliation with the Broncos affecting his origin selections.

Obviously now, the Maroons need a new 9, and may need to pick Holmes over Boyd.

Hasn't ever really had a fair go though. Just like with Pearce he's being compared unfairly to JT and Cronk.
