Speaking of loopholes, just looked at the rules.

we get extra trades for round 13, 15 and 17.
13 and 17 are bye rounds with half the teams missing and no origin players available

15 is the round before the stand alone origin - everyone is available to play and we get 4 extra trades this week. I would have thought it might make more sense to give us the extra trrades for the week after origin - in case anyone gets injured during origin it would be nice to have extra trades around then.

Anyway, looking at the rules, rolling lockout will still be in effect, so non-captaincy loopholes are available.

Hey all - what are the risks with focusing a team on money-makers, with a couple of pick-n-stix?

Something like the below leaves 400k in hand Basketball :

    CS9
    Alvaro Esesesese
    Murray RFM Arrow
    JT Croker
    Milne LBrown
    Teddy Hiku Mitchell

    Lichaa Lodge NAS CWatson
    Carty Isaako Kikau Garvey

The idea is to have a 4 guns to provide a reliable base score, then look to trade out onto keeping guns when price rises hit. Is that likely to leave the team too far behind the pack?

    L brown won't make money

Risk is not getting off to a good start scoring wise but it's not a bad team you have there overall.

    2018 - How to loophole.

The combination of ranked subs and rolling lockout means we can still loppy-loop. Much to the joy-anger-confusion of everybody.

    Terminology
    Bench = numbers 13-21
    Interchange - numbers 13-17
    Reserves - 18-21

    How to loop.
Have your potential loop player (Mr Loop) sit in bench spot 18 - someone who plays early ion the round.
Have a non-player (Mr Hole) in that position in your reserves.

If Mr Loop guy scores well - substitute Mr Hole into your starting team for the weakest player in his position.

The when scoring comes, Mr Hole will get an AE - and has highest ranked Bench player in that position, mr Loop comes in.

    Example for round 1

You think Matt Dufty might be OK as Dragons fullback, but aren't convinced.
    Name him at number 18

Team will look something like this

    Smith
    Lodge ALvaro
    Brown Murray Arrow
    Reynolds Watson
    Aubbs Milne
    Tedesco Rapana Ponga

    Garvey
    Cook
    Lichaa
    MCQueen
    Dufty
    Hiroti (Souths WFB)
    Croker
    Hiku

If Dufty scores well, then sub that deadshit Rapana out of your team and put Hiroti in his place.
Then Dufty will become the sub for Hiroti for end of round scoring.
(and if either of Tedesco or Ponga doesnt play, then Rapana gets back into your team)

Bit risky as you need to carry a dead position with you when cash making is already restricted by smaller squad size.

Certainly something to keep in mind if you ever end up with somebody out.

For captaincy loophole - looks like that will still be around as well.
Captaincy is locked, but doesn't say you can't sub your captain out of your 17.

Fanhub are idiots. It takes 5 seconds thought to realise rolling lockout and ranked subs creates loop opportunities. Introducing ranked subs means they can stop rolling lockout.

Now I am going to strongly consider having Hiroti in my squad, because I think some WFB/CTR looping action could be a goer.

So just to get this straight - you have 17 scoring players, then 18-21 are ranked AE's. Does the AE have to be available in the same position as the player who's a late withdrawal? or is it just that your 18th man takes the first AE (regardless of position), 19th second AE slot etc.?

14-21 are ranked subs. They can sub in for someone in your starting 13 - if they play that position

If someone from your starting 13 doesn't play - the highest ranked player on your bench (14-21) that plays that position takes his spot.
This can happen up to 8 times.

Once any subs are made, the highest ranked remaining 4 players on your bench become your scoring reserves.

If you have a CTR fail to take the field, but have no CTRs on your bench, then you get a 0 for that player that week.

I read it as an AE is only available in the same position. Shame that, otherwise a bench loaded with 2nd tier gun 2rf's would score better than CTR's.

Ranked subs from 18-21 seem to be a waste because its unlikely good coaches will have multiple players of the same position anyway.

Quick example: If you need a AE for a HLF, your likely to only have 1 available HLF anyway as you need the others to cover the other 6 positions. He might be ranked at 21 but will have to be used because he is the only HLF available

At least VSDT are giving cold hard cash as prizes, paltry though they may be.
Fox Fantasy Super Rugby use to give 10 grand, then 5 grand (when I won it )
and now you get a lousy foxtel package. There is a definite downward trend
across the board in fantasy prizes and they want to keep people involved over the whole season, meh.

Alright this is my current set up, which will undoubtedly change a number of times between now and Thursday kick-off. All dependant on team lists of course:

    Smith
    Scott, Lodge
    NBrown, Harris, Murray
    Croft, Croker
    Hayne, Milne
    Tedesco, Ponga, Inglis

    Garvey, Watson, Aarow, RFM

    Kikau, Hipgrave, Hiku, Fonua

A bunch of players to keep an eye on for rd 1 team lists to see where they sit in the pecking order.
Hayne will potentially burn me again, Croft may be rotated so hopefully Croker goes well too.

DCE was a real temptation for me and I had some other FRF options I was looking at in place of Scott but this is what I have settled on for now.

No surprise that supercoach is the comp that attracts the players given its the only one that offers decent prizes.

Dreamteam prizes are pretty good given the number of players they get.

    Fantasy is piss poor

I just got back from over VSDT and noticed they haven't changed at all and offer shit prizes too, so decided not to bother forming a team. I can't multi task between that and this game, so this is it for me, the new rules will make it an interesting challenge
