There was nothing wrong with last night's decisions and league fans just need to harden up and accept things

Good post Milchy. I agree. We must be close to the biggest whingers in the world of sport.

People have short memories, especially the media. They are always crapping on that they want the onfield refs to "make a call" (which is one of the main reasons why we have the current system), but then they complain when they don't like the call. Has everyone forgetten all the problems we had with things like "ref's call" and "benefit of the doubt"?

IMO the onfield refs should ref the game and make their own decisions (which is what they had to do prior to the video ref being introduced by Super League in 1997 and by the NRL in 1998), and the video ref should be used to make sure that they haven't made a howler. Unfortunately, people keep getting upset about 50/50 (or 55/45 or 60/40) calls that not everyone can agree on anyway.

This Sharks v Cowboys game is without a doubt, the toughest for the Match day comp.
Who do you pick for the 2nd row, Gallen or Taumololo?
Who do you pick for the centre and wing/fullback spots? I have NO faith in any of them.....

If they want to prevent this, they'll need to change the rules to include chests, heads, and softcocks in the knock-on ruling

As a manly fan, its not so much that peacheys try was awarded as that was 50/50 and benefit of the doubt goes with refs call. I can even live with uates as it looks like he dropped it. But the walker no try, there is no way they could say 100% he was offside from any angle, so why wasnt the refs call gone with?

Thats what is pissing us off. How can they overturn 1 and not the other when there was more doubt involved in the peachey try?

    I agree with this Showbags.

IMO the bunker SHOULDN'T have overturned the onfield decision of "try" for Walker. The video evidence WASN'T conclusive enough.

exactly, benefit of the doubt has to go somewhere, all the no try/try thing does is changes benefit of the doubt based on how the on-field official would've ruled if there was no video ref.

as to your third and fourth line, there is no other sport in the world that is torn to shreds by it's own sports journalists as much as the NRL, we've been conditioned to think the referees are the worst thing on the face of the earth because the quality of the game itself is ignored by these self-interested assholes in favour of selling papers with sensationalist headlines because they disagreed with a 50/50 call in the 3rd minute and that was the entire reason why the team on the wrong end of it lost the game.

    Also a Manly fan.
Whether or not I agree with the decisions made isn't going to effect anything.
Manly's season is now over. No ill feeling towards the Panthers.
I hope they win the comp.

These stat guys are ridiculous. I saw a clear TB from Taumololo earlier and now when Fifita steamrolled Linnett and neither TB's were given. What game are they watching as both were obvious.............................

Clear professional foul on TMM. Pretty shocking miss from the refs.
