158 so far for the round with Captain Gallen to come (no thanks, VC Surgess!)

SJ, RTS, CNK, Ese'ese, Fai, BTHompson, Moga all playing for me at 5:30pm so should see a decent rankings boost (I hope!)

I was kinda thinking along similar lines but the other way around. Adam fucking Reynolds. At least Cody didn't score very well.

    Taumalolo=63.7%, CS9=61.6%, Macca=61.6%, J. Papalii=58.7%, JDB=58.1%, Gallen=58.1%, Fifita=57.7%, Pearce=57.5%, J-Trbo=56.8%, Surgess=56.3%, McInnes=55.7%.

I'd say Macca's average will start falling with K-Nik on the bench. Six of the top 11 are 2fr so this year the trend seems to be stacking your 2fr. For those thinking like me of getting McInnes  as a 2nd hooker he is actually placed 11th on averages. So it seems getting McInnes may not be the percentage play to make when you could kill off your 2nd hooker spot & buy Taumalolo who is the number 1 averaging player in fantasy. Also killing off your 2nd hooking spot is low risk because CS9 never gets injured.

Haha I was just in the process of doing the same analysis. I agree killing off 2nd hooker spot whilst risky could be a legitimate plan. I was however originally planning to have for final team of 18 including five reserves: one hooker, one frf, two 2rf and one half. But looking at the averages, I would say having three 2rf reserves and no frf reserve (but still having a second gun hooker) would be better. Thoughts

Exactly, WL. This was the point I was trying to make yesterday but I didn't have the figures to back it up so thanks lol I can legitimately see my team running
    Fifita/James/Graham
    Gallen/Surgess/Crichton/Taumalolo/JDB/JTurbo

And with a couple of trades in hand I can't see anything wrong with this option. Even going 3 halves instead of 6 2RF is another option. McInnes et al just don't rustle my jimmies this season

Yeah McInnes is primarily a tackling hooker as that's how he gets the majority of his points. If the Dragons were a bottom team doing a lot of defense each game his average would be much higher but since the reverse is true then some games he'll still score well but never many 60+ games.

The beauty of killing off the second hooker spot with Smith jnr is that if CS9 was to be out for a game or two, at least you would still have a hooker in Smith jnr you could possibly play instead.

I would say the major blocker for the one hooker approach is having only smith through the byes/origin.
If farah doesnt hit 45+ in the coming weeks i will be cashing out though.

Two seasons back it was looking like maybe he should retire. Last season and this season he looks better than some 10 years his junior. Genuinely happy he is playing on.

It happens in a lot of sports where someone retires from Rep level or decides to only play one form of a game and they find a new lease on life. I agree it's like a weight has been lifted off his shoulders not playing Origin etc

    Smith McInnes
    Graham James Brown Fai
JDB Surgess Gallen Crichton Elliot Fuimaono
    SJ CWalker Niko Hampton
    BJ Aubusson Kelly Idris
    RTS Slater Hayne Suli Phythian

196k in the bank, thinking my trades next week should be Suli to Munster and Brown to Vaughan. Really want to get Tolo too but it may have to wait an extra week til I cash out Niko. Do these trades sound good?

If J. Graham is fit tonight my 3rd trade will be:
Fifita out - J. Graham in
In round 13 this will give me enough cash to go with 1 trade = F. Kaufusi out - Taumalolo in
I will also go Cook out & Smith Jnr in
The cash generated from this will allow me to get Fifita back in round 16 & will be an easy swap with N. Brown.

My round 16 team squad will be with 12 trades:
    Smith, Smith
    Fifita, J. Graham, Wallace, Tualau
Taumalolo, Gallen, JDB, Surgess, Crichton, Elliot
    SJ, C. Walker, Lamb, Field
Croker, L. Mitchell, Kelly, R. Jennings
    RTS, Slater, Cotric, Klokstad, Abbey

I figure I'll need 1 of Vaughan/Taupau in my frf. 1 of J. Papalii/J-Trbo in my 2fr. I'll need Pearce in my halves. Also Tedesco will end up being pretty cheap so he could be an option along on T-Trbo or Munster. So I figure these changes will require 6-7 trades so I should have 5-6 trades left for injuries.

Still if your plan is to get say JTurbo instead of McInnes, it isn't going to give you much advantage but does increase your risk.

This was the hypothetical best team I could come up on, based on current averages (rounded to nearest whole number).

    Smith (62) McCullough (62)
    Fifita (58) Vaughn (55) Taupau (54)
    Tlolo (64) Papalii (59) JDB (58) Gallen (58) JTurbo (57) Surgess (56)
    Pearce (57) SJ (55)
    Roberts (47) TTurbo (46)
    Nofo (50) Rapana (49) Tedesco (49)

McInnes has an average of 56, meaning he is a marginally worse scorer than the 6th best 2RF. However, he's still outscoring every FRF except Fifita and every half except Pearce.

Edit: I realise there is one too many reserves but I wanted another FRF in there for comparison. Assume he's 18th man.

Kaufusi - JWH. Yay or nay? Have Graham, Vaughan + Hoare as my other FRF. Think I would like an extra 40 points this week, just means I'll probably have to trade JWH out again in round 15, however I have just over 20 trades left so that's not really a problem.

    Any advice?

If you do kill off 2nd hooker spot. Just get Cameron and Brandon Smith.

Then if Cam Smith does go down for whatever reason you at least have a replacement ready to go

With that amount of trades left I'd say yay. Have a look at Junior Paulo as well since you're prepared to trade out in round 15.

If you do I would hold till round 18 since he plays 2 big bye rounds

I'm on the cook to young smith bandwagon.

I can't wait for next years draw as the 2nd SOO is being played standalone on a Sunday night so I expect half the teams have a bye before SOO 1 and the other half before SOO 3. Now it'll be interesting if they play the first game only 1.5 weeks before and the third game 1.5 weeks after game two. In that instance I would think a lot of teams will rest their SOO players between 1 and 2.
