Okay so could someone who is good at explaining things to the less educated among us please explain in great detail how looping someone at 13 instead of 17 works please?

Who's going with a gun Hooker to start the season?

I've currently got Mahoney, Cheese and Boyd, but not sure if I should just dump Mahoney and run with the other 2 (or downgrade one of my Mids and upgrade Mahoney to Cook/Grant)

Tapine played fine, he just didn't play for long, because Ricky thinks 25 minutes with his best 17 before the season kicks off is just perfect, thank you.

You can loop starting players if they are the same position

e.g. Sloan at WFB won't play R1. So if you have 2 WFBs in 18-21 (and none in 14-17) you can loop Sloan from your starting team

However, if you want to loop Sloan with say 1 WFB and 1 MID, then he needs to be at 17.

The advantage of the starting player loop is you can often set it up even if the 'red dot' players team plays before the players you want to loop. Or depending on timing of games, you can move players around and use 1 red dot to loop more than 2 green dots. That's where you'll need the coffee though (and if you're me, a spreadsheet or at least paper/pen)

So everyone getting Turbo after R3 is just building in at least one failure into their starting squad?

I've redone my team again, giving up Tapine has significantly helped my balance and I don't think I give up much in terms of firepower.

I've come around on him for now, my reasoning is that he either kills it (in which case I spend no trades) or gets injured again (in which case I spend 1 trade selling him to another gun), while starting with a worse WFB means at least one trade (to a gun) or two (if you buy Turbo and he later gets injured)

I can fit Grant in if i run the 7 cheapies strategy. Im keen to run with a bit more depth tho. Not that keen on Mahoney though so same decision as you, deciding if I pick an extra mid for around the same price and just start the season with Smith and Boyd as my hookers

just one failure? usually theres around 5 or 6 by round 3 in my squad.

. I am pretty set on starting with Cookie ATM.
