Edit: Also Sam McKendry was named in the NSW Cup trial so maybe he really ticked Griffin off or something. Merrin to prop looking more likely.

Re: 2016 NRL.com Fantasy Thread Part 6
It's just a trial list but after Griffin went with Josh Hoffman at 5/8 and put Parker at prop at the start of 2014 I'm not going to say with much confidence the Panthers team positions will correct themselves come Round 1.
Edit: Also Sam McKendry was named in the NSW Cup trial so maybe he really ticked Griffin off or something. Merrin to prop looking more likely.

Let's hope so... the predicted Round 1 teams on NRL.com have him starting at 11.
Some other odd predictions (and concerning for my team) are: SST (roosters) and JDB (Dragons) not starting. I currently have both in my 17.
If Aubbs gets the number 11 over SST he will probably get 80mins and SST wont see the benefit from cordner or JWH that we expected.
JDB usually scores ok off the bench. Both Thompson and LAM are starting and 70K less than JDB. Do you think it will be a case that he is on early and does large minutes?
Joel Thompsons is not really competing for minutes with LAM or JDB. They have separate roles.
but as for JDB/Cooper/LAM etc. I think it will still be possible for whoever starts on the bench to get big minutes and score well. I'm just going to avoid all the dragons forwards to start the year.

NRL.com have updated their predicted Rd1 team lists - No Parcell (at all) for the Sea Eagles, Zillman at FB for the Titans, Feeney at FB for the Knights.
But they have Frizell listed which seems unlikely, so who knows

Surely Parcell is ahead of Leary if fit.

Re: 2016 NRL.com Fantasy Thread Part 6
NRL.com aren't Nostradamus at predicting teams, there's no way in any universe that at full strength the Warriors run with Jono Wright on the wing. Some of the others are pretty contentious though and about a 50/50 chance. Don't see Aitken being left out for Peter Mata'utia but could go either way, Baptiste would probably be preferred ahead of Clydsedale and Raiders might opt for Mitch Barnett instead of Lima on the bench.
I really don't see Parcell missing out, Barrett rates him if they'll leave anyone out I'd say at this rate it will be Mateo. Sea Eagles didn't go to all the trouble of getting Parcell to say "Okay wait your turn in NSW Cup"

Re: 2016 NRL.com Fantasy Thread Part 6
I would have had Mateo more likely to be starting 2nd row with Brown than on the bench.
The hardest thing about team lists though will be predicting what will be long term positions and what is going to change by round 2.

Re: 2016 NRL.com Fantasy Thread Part 6
how many minutes did mannreng average last year? I thought with the reduced interchange and having to run 2 hookers he would have played a similar minutes to last year. then again who else would Henry replace?

Yet they named him in the predicted teamlists anyway. Maybe Tom can sit in the crowd for the game and Gurgess can run on. Nobody will know the difference anywayAardvark Ratnick wrote:George Burgess is suspended round 1 ...................

Brenno, keen on doing a NRL Fantasy draft as well alongside our Ultimate or just wanna focus on one?

Oh mate Im not sure if I could handle another draft. Ill also be doing SC this year so I think adding another team into the mix will be too much. I really do appreciate the offer though lad. Are you running one with a few of the Ultimate crew?Mearcats wrote:Brenno, keen on doing a NRL Fantasy draft as well alongside our Ultimate or just wanna focus on one?

Also - if we're going to discuss lineups, lets put them in the thread please so people know what we are talking about
Panthers:
Matt Moylan (c), Josh Mansour, Waqa Blake, Peta Hiku, Dallin Watene-Zelezniak, Jamie Soward, Peter Wallace, Trent Merrin, James Segeyaro, Suaia Matagi, Tyrone Peachey, Elijah Taylor, Isaah Yeo. Bench: Will Smith, Leilani Latu, Te Maire Martin, Bryce Cartwright, Jeremy Latimore, James Fisher-Harris, Sitaleki Akauola.
VODAFONE WARRIORS
1 Roger Tuivasa-Sheck
2 Solomone Kata
3 Blake Ayshford
4 Tuimoala Lolohea
13 Manu Vatuvei
6 Jeff Robson
7 Shaun Johnson
8 Albert Vete
9 Issac Luke
10 Ben Matulino
11 Simon Mannering (c)
12 Ryan Hoffman
14 Ligi Sao
Interchange:
5 Matt Allwood
15 Charlie Gubb
16 James Gavet
17 Nathaniel Roache
18 Ben Henry
21 Konrad Hurrell
22 Jonathan Wright
23 Sam Lisone
25 Ata Hingano
My take on this was that Peach needed the run out. No way Cartwright is not going to get big minutes. More interesting to me was Merrin at prop not lock. I'm not sure what I think. Maybe always the intention and I just missed that news.
Waqa Blake in for a big year even though tricky backline to hold down spot in

Is this the year Ayshford can go a full season without getting injured?

These lists and panthers squad makes me want to go back to seggy. Looks 80mins doesn't he with brown and kori now both gone.

Im sure you could get enough interest from this forum to run an NRL Fantasy draft. Maybe set it up and post the entry code?

Re: 2016 NRL.com Fantasy Thread Part 6
Who's running with more than 1 gun in the halves this year?
I've tried but keep going back to 1 gun and 3 cows. If you're running 2 gun hookers and guns in the other key positions that's around 5-6 total. Anymore than this impacts team depth too much and leaves you with dodgy reserves in your 17 and no back ups in case of injury.
Last year from memory people were starting with 8 or 9 guns in their squads, much harder this year!

As a Broncos fan I would be wary of Peter Wallace giving Seggy a spell, and Peachy or Cartwright (or Moylan) having a short stint in the halves. Griffin loves that shit. Might just be my sour grapes though after watching him turn the Broncs into an easy 2 points for the opposition. Can't believe he got another NRL gig.
