I think I’d have Williams, Hess and Luciano as my top 3 though followed by Su’a and Carty.

For those starting with both Taumalolo and D. Fifita they could be missing out on good second row value.

I'm just tossing up this conundrum now.

Starting with Taumalolo saves a trade and he's the only viable captain playing in R12 available for R1

BUT I just trialled a team without Taumalolo and the 14-17 in my team is way more balanced (without compromising the rest of my team) and wouldn't be at risk of a forced trade-out after a few weeks (as I have Keppie in 17 now)

It probably hinges on whether Walters/Grant are a viable option & whether Stimson starts as to whether I go with Taumalolo or not (alongside Haas)

I’ve reset and have like 8-9 guns and sub-guns I think are value, and 8-9 random cheapies. Then will compromise if the actual cheapies don’t come thru on TLT. Feel this is more constructive than trying to build an actual team now and tying myself in knots about mid-rangers.

TL;DR guns and cows all the way baby

PS Tolo > Haas at this stage.

How is your back 3 looking?

I'm assuming Stimson will be on the bench but if he starts he'll be in my team. I don't like the Titans early draw so no Brimson for me.

    https://www.reddit.com/r/nrl/comments/f9peg6/cameron_murray_slams_sydney_roosters_rumours_mark/

Someone has copy and pasted the full article on here, not sure if I can put links so sorry if that's against the rules. Good news for Knight though.

Asked about the thinking behind the move, Murray continued: “Wayne says for our pack to be as effective as possible, my best position is left edge.

    “And I agree.

“There’s a great opportunity for me outside Cody, plus it also allows Liam Knight to grab that number 13 jersey and become the player we all know he can be.

Just coming back to this. All good points and I mostly agree, but for the first few weeks do positions really matter? I mean if you spend your money wisely and your team includes a guy priced at 55 scoring 60, a guy priced at 40 scoring 50 and a guy priced at 17 scoring 30, does it really matter what positions the points come from? I would have thought at least initially, as long as your guys are scoring well above their price it doesn't matter if that score is 30 or 40 or 50.

Great point, first few weeks it absolutely does not matter what position points come from. But come round 3-4 you aren't going to be happy coping 25 from your 17th man, that is why I would avoid props and bench edge

Jordan Riki not in the Broncos top 30 or their 6 dev players AFAIK so going to be interesting how he makes their R1 team.

EDIT: nrl.com has Jordan Leigh as a dev player, that could be him. Still I think it’s a stretch for the Broncos to get an exemption to play him before June 30.

How crazy would it be if you had Aubusson/Capewell to have an extra CTR (Burns over equivalent priced assets) and then put Aubusson/Capewell on the bench to provide CTR cover as it looks like they'll be no viable long-term cheapies at CTR (Moga may end up being the cheapest but I think he loses spot to Best upon return)

You don't really need WFB cover then as some viable CTRs like Lomax/Shibasaki could be shifted to WFB with DPP if injury occurs

Mate currently my interchange is Koro, Hess, B. Brailey and Keppie.

With JMK in quite a bit of doubt now what strategy are you gonna go with for your other half?

If Mann looks better this weekend he will be back in strong consideration for me as I’m not keen on the mid range halves.

What are your thoughts on Brimson?

Positions matter. You are happy with a center averaging 40, but unhappy with a 2rf averaging 40. It is a key part of my selection process this season.

It'd be Mann as 2nd HLF most likely. Though I have to overcome the fact he screwed me during Origin period last year wasting a valuable trade. Maybe if Walters gets starting HOK I might do rotate Walters/Luai as 2nd HLF as he probably otherwise wouldn't fit into my team with Taumalolo in it

long as your guys are scoring well above their price Mulvy is correct in this assessment, positions irrelevant. You will take a 40 avg from a 2RF everyday if you got him for a 30 average starting price tag.

I’m not sold on Drinkwater yet. I think he’s gonna miss quite a number of tackles and he won’t get many kick metres. Keep in mind he has this niggle as well keeping him out of this weekends trial so if Clifford plays really well that could be bad news for Drinkwater.

I’d love to know when Drinkwater averaged 60 last season in QLD cup in the halves if that was with good kick metres or not as well?.......... I just dunno if he gets the nod for round 1 if he’s just gonna average say mid 30’s Mann is cheaper by 55k and will probs average low 30’s anyways.

I have Pappy and Aekins but not sure on my other spot yet.

I have Brimson in their right now but just as of this arvo for some reason I seem to be losing a bit of faith in Brimson.

I’m not gonna go with cows and guns all the way as I really like some of the mid range hooker and second row options.

If Wiliame starts at ctr he will get dpp (currently just wfb). However Mary will probably just pick Aitken & Lafai ctrs.

I still disagree. At center you are happy getting 40s until the guy you purchased at 30 value peaks and sees you through to the byes. In 2rf getting 40s for a guy you paid 30 average for, he needs to be upgraded ahead of peaking, and well before the bye rounds.
