I remember him playing 70 min games while fasting. Doubt he will have much trouble with the heat.

It is the opposition that should be worried. He will power on while everyone else fades hard.

Injuries are one thing. Lodge obviously would be in the Broncos team if fit

Yet we just heard Packer can't even run. Fans who know jack shit might put him in their team, but journalists should theoretically know this sort of stuff and adjust their predicted teams accordingly.
Crawley even wrote last week that Packer was the fittest he's been in ages - where did he get that info?

Yeah I mentioned that a while ago. But whilst it may affect him, I'm just as inclined to think that he's just such a freak of a homo sapien that coach could leave him out there and spell all the others that are blowing hard.

Today’s toilet break team is brought to you by the taxpayer

    Friend
    Knight, haas
    Brown, tapine, Williams
    Moses, drink water
    Burns, someone cheap like Crichton
    Pappy, douhey, Lomax

    Carigan, su’a, Koro, luai

Leaves me 1.02m to fill the last four spots. My plan is to follow the crowd on these picks, so I’ll wait until tlt before wasting time swapping them around, same goes for the second ctr spot.

I don’t buy into hot weather affecting players (not to the extent I’d consider not owning one), these guys are Fucking athletes, Haas is a beast. Plus, he has just done a preseason in Brisbane, it’s no canberra.

Maybe, but I'm doubtful that any professional athlete can be that much fitter than the other highly trained players at the peak of their sports. I reckon heat and humidity will do more to sap Haas' effectiveness than fasting, but that's just my opinion.

Mate - after this summer I'd be picking the Canberra players to either have the VO2max figures of a Nepalese sherpa, or die of emphasema by season end.

"Pat [Carrigan] has had a tremendous pre-season. Anyone  who has seen him physically can see he has grown and he was really good in the Capras trial so he gets an opportunity to start there. I think he will be thereabouts to start in the 13 jersey [in round one]."

I traded Carrigan in after the Lodge news, seems he could hit 40 ppg even off the bench, starting even more, since Kennedy doesn't play big mins and we could have a utility (or McCullough) on the bench.

That is a fair assessment. Canberra has been a dogs breakfast this summer. Hardly used my pool due to smoke, wind or bullshit heat (please don’t judge my small pool).

If all these 2rf options are named to start I might want all of them, might have to forgo Lolo and maybe beef up the bench.

Be for depth I imagine. With McInnes out, an injury to Luke would be disastrous.

Sensible with injuries he had last season. Does that mean Brittain is ahead of that Lovodua that been mentioned?

Lachlan Lewis is one that is intriguing. I am picking doggies as a bit of a dark horse this year and I reckon Lewis is in for another year of improvements and I think he will average close to 50 for the year.

Wade Graham is getting close to being a part of my team as well. Should be well over the injuries, team captain, plus plays on a pretty dangerous edge.

Turpin is another not many are talking about. Will he be an 80 minute hooker this year? He has only had 2 games playing 80 minutes at hooker for 49 and 68.

Carrigan starting lock would solve so many dilemmas. I was umming and ahhing over Merrin v Fotu v Knight and I didn’t like anybody else until you delve down to Mikaele v Molo (neither of whom I was thrilled about). Everyone will have Carrigan now, but it saves $150k and squares off that tricky FRF position.
Haas + Carrigan seems a complete no-brainer if that eventuates.
