Regarding Finch's post re. Young and the sudden change regarding his JS from last week.

    It hasn't changed.

There have been rumours that Tapine is going to make a speedy recovery still, but his outlook hasn't changed from coming back Round 15-17. Luke Bateman may come into the discussion, but there is also the fact the Raiders are now without Rapana again and some feel J. Bateman or E. Whitehead may shift to the CTR to accommodate that and take Leilua's spot essentially.

The biggest reason why he is being talked about is the fact he played 80 minutes and performed well, he plays Round 12 and outside of Martin there are no other cheap options. Dearden is one, but most have him or are passing as he doesn't play Round 12. So really, the same risks are involved. It is just there aren't many other options if any at all and his JS for at least Rd 12 seems better than Martins.

I agree with this. JS for both Martin and Young is questionable.
I'm bringing in Young this week, Martin next. I need round 12 numbers and points, and these guys will make a little cash as a bonus

    What changed?

It's already been posted but, nothing has changed. There were more suggestions this week that Tapine may make an early return (which is what was causing people to hold off)
Nothing concrete though so you are basically taking the same risk that existed last week.

I'm guessing people just saw his score last week and want some of the action. People are still very reactive around here

    Good old fashioned upvote/downvote

Upvote: Liam Martin in. $489k cash in bank (play Martin or Young)

Downvote: Bring Taupau in. $35k cash in bank (play Taupau)

If I don't bring Taupau in this week I could potentially do it before round 12 for Xerri/Lomax

My trades this week are L. Burr + L. Garner out for C. Smith + H. Young.

Not really keen on getting rid of Burr just yet, but I am getting Smith so it makes sense. Essentially this is what my team looks like.

    D. Cook
    A. Fifita, P. Haas
    J. Arrow, C. Murray, M. Taupau
    A. Reynolds, M. Morgan
    B. Xerri, B. Nikora
    J. Tedesco, K. Ponga, CNK

    C. Smith, R. Mahoney, H. Young, M. Rein

    B. Cartwright, T. Dearden, Z. Lomax, W. Kennedy (I fucked up here)

    $377k in the bank.

Planning to loophole Dearden and Rein using Kennedy. Also putting Taupau on the bench for Young. (Means I have FRF cover)

The way I see it I need a HLF, CTR, and then 2 bench spots. (Maybe 3 if Mahoney flops again.)

My guaranteed trade outs are Rein, Cartwright and Morgan. My trade ins are Farah, Taumalolo, and Cleary. Right now I am $75k short of that. So it comes down to how much Dearden, Lomax, and Young can make before I cash one of them out. (If Mahoney flops then I can definitely get all 3 but my 17th man looks shaky)

Also would like Xerri -> Burns in a straight swap or Xerri to Bateman.

The above outlines 5-6 trades which leaves me above my 8 I want for injuries. So I may be able to cash out another cow to get Bateman into my squad when he returns.

I own Taupau, and i think he will do great, but he isn't going to earn much cash between now and Round 12 if he averages 60. So you drop potentially 10-15 points this week, to ensure you have enough cash to get Taupau later and continue generating cash. That and most people would be playing Young or Martin in their squad so you aren't even losing out as much as it would seem.
