New setup with W/L-inspired Sironen. Any thoughts? I like my guns balance, but miss having Matterson...

    Cook
    Taupau  Paulo
    Murray Arrow Sironen
    Cleary Morgan
    Nikora Holland
    Edwards Kahu CNK

    Mahoney Capewell Hetherington Burr
    DBrown Keighran Hopoate Xerri

    82k in change.

    Potential swaps:
    Sele in for Hethers (trials)
    Fifi for Taupau (probably won’t)
Garrick / Ravalawa in for some other cows.
McGuire in for Sironen. Could be.

    Cheers!

When I think value I don't think of having Friend and Macca. You don't have Egan (if he starts with four forward bench), Stimson who will now be 80 mins on edge etc, potentially LLeilua if JDB rubbed out.

Jazz Tevaga is an interesting pick, not sure how much better he can do if still on the bench to start the season. Depends if Luke/Roache/Lawton are fit and whether Burr is starting lock I guess.

Bird over Capewell in centres is ballsy.

Don't like the Wighton and CNK picks personally, more talented players out there.

I don't see any real upside in any hooker this year except for Mahoney and Egan. The rest are there or there abouts so if you are spending big on hookers just do gun and cash cow, Cook and Egan and be done with it.

Interesting squad. Such is the make up of it I can’t even run my Unicorn (big Points and value) over it. Several here I would suggest are just for market value and trading purposes but could very well hit with a few of them in points too; Fotuaika, Fifita, TPJ

Wighton is confusing. Not sure what I think of him this year. Friend is more points than value and Tevaga is left-field differential who could be an elusive unicorn. Mind boggling. Like it Smile

    See? There's your problem!

51 players being considered for a 21 man squad. And that's before even TLT.

Like the Fotu pick but only if he starts. Massive potential.

Wouldn't start with Fifita personally since he may not start. Prob won't play 80 even if he does start.

Halves a bit weak but could pay off if other areas are strengthened well.

Centres the same. Nikora a good pick if he starts in the backrow.

Decent WFBs but not a fan of Wighton personally, especially at 6.

Very strong bench, maybe too strong. TPJ a big injury concern heading into the season and get rid of Hass.

Thanks Milf! I’ve shuffled around since then, and appreciated your thoughts.

I am personally not sold on Paulo with the current Eels pack. Kahu doesn't strike me as a consistent WFB scorer. The rest are solid picks and a good team.

Strong team. Apart from Hetherington and Paulo I like all of it. FRF is a bit of a wasteland to me so if you like those picks stick with it. Personally I haven't considered either and even seeing them here makes me think I must have missed something? I'd have Napa over those guys personally but you'll save me some cash if you can convince me that they have more upside.

    Cheers Capn!

Hethers is probably going to become Garner, and I’ll run without FRF cover. Paulo has scored at around the 550k mark for previous seasons, and should be a bit more motivated back at home. Looks fitter too. Worried about his hammy though....

Solid team. Kahu, Hetherington and burr (tlt pending) only ones I'm iffy about. Can understand the paulo appeal.
    Few suggestions

    Could turn Kahu into Ravalawa
    Hetherington into Garner
if you wanted frf cover use the cash to turn Burr into Napa.
    Would leave 15k itb

I don't rate Paulo as being that undervalued. I think he will struggle to hold a 40 point average and guys like Tolman (who Im also not the biggest fan off) Ah Mau are better picks.

I also don't rate Sironen. He can get the minutes but just doesn't get through enough work. I say this as someone who was burnt by him. The rest seems right until TLT.

Just thought I'd throw up my final team for reference next year. $5k remaining

    Cook
    Fifita Afoa
    Murray Arrow Sironen
    Cleary Morgan
    Holland Nikora
    Edwards CNK Ravalawa

    Peats Capewell Keighran Garner
    Sivo Brown Kahu Sele

    -------

So far I regret the last-minute switch of Bird to Kahu and Probably should've gone a cow (Host/Lawrie/Hetherington) over a cheap midranger in Afoa.

Round 1 - score 884, a bit below par. No trades

Round 2 - 776. Bad round, with Holland, Rava and Sele hurting. Decided to trade out Holland and Peats (injured) for Rein and Bird.

Round 3 - 794. Another poor round, but could've been worse. Rolling the dice at rank 4800, trading Cook for Bateman and Brown for CHT.
