    Bye-bye scoot-scoot

Cook to average 50-55 this year.

So wants him to stop the scoots and hang around the ruck a bit more. Might skip cook this year. Will wait and see on trials to see how they go.

If we needed anymore proof that Wayne's passed it this is it. He'll kill Cooks best feature straight after they've just paid him way too much money.

Always take these interviews with a grain of salt. Its akin to 'training the house down'
Every year one player or another talks about how the coach is looking to mix up their game plan. It actually happens a lot less than you'd think.

I'm seeing a lot of people saying not to play Eels/Warriors half and therefore they have two decent halves. But I'm also seeing a lot of teams with Eels/Warriors half at 16 or 17 or both. I plan to have a decent 14-17 but probably a halves combo of Morgan and Eels/Warriors half. I don't really think it's any different really is it? Risky if they bomb out but then you could try the other Eels/Warriors half (who would likely be in the 18-21) or a WFB could come in instead via dpp, thereby mitigating the risk. Thoughts?

They have 2 quality halves and can loophole out the shit score, you only have 1 quality half and are likely stuck with the shit score

Ah the poophole. You mean because it's much easier to loophole a bench player?

That raises the question again, do you carry a non-player from the start for that purpose? Or is raising cash more important at the start, and the fact you'll probably get a non-player through injury or suspension soon enough anyway? Last year it only took about five minutes before Sione Katoa was out for example.

Hopefully they've fixed it and that question won't be relevant this year.

I'd wait until site launches next week before making decisions about what sort of loops are/aren't possible.

Hopefully they have removed the free-for all looping of last year.

    #trainingthehousedown

Parramatta Eels coach Brad Arthur is reportedly set to start 18 year old playmaking sensation Dylan Brown alongside Mitchell Moses in 2019. The youngster has been training the house down in his bid for an NRL jersey which saw him faint from exhaustion earlier this year.

Whilst he is yet to debut in the NRL, praise has come far and wide for Brown. Parramatta Eels captain Clint Gutherson stated the following, "Dyl stepping in, now that Normy’s gone he’s sort of taken a bit more control ... so it’s impressive [...] He pushes his body to the limit [...] he's earned a lot of the boys respect."

I tried starting with a non player early, but found that it made it difficult when you had injuries. I would prefer starting with a full team and use the loop for short term injuries avoiding trading

Don't need to carry a non-player just a player playing later to poop with. And yes it is much easier to poop a bench player.

And there are rumours Salmon has been training at ctr. They reckon Takairangi & French will start the year in ISP. So you could select both Eels cheapies if you wanted. If Salmon does indeed start at ctr he'll get his hlf status amended to dpp hlf/ctr so he will be handy covering 2 positions.

I think its risky to play rookie halves in average teams (on the basis that I think the Warriors won’t be very good this year) in your 17. If absolute necessary I’d only start with Dylan Brown and leave CHT in the emergencies

Cleary and Morgan is seemingly quite popular after Cleary’s excellent end to the season. Thats how I’m gonna start

For rookie halves, if they can do a reasonable amount of kicking, and not miss too many tackles, then that is generally enough to make them valuable (for a reserve position if not as a scorer)
If they happen to get a bunch of attacking stats too then that's a bonus.

I think I’ll just let people do what they want and we’ll see how they go. Definite risk but of course if they play well they play well as you say.
