Arewnt they currently under investigation for salary cap rorting? No sponsors etc then they are allowed to sign what would be close to a million dollar a year player?? wow

Its an excellent signing for them, pushes Moylan back to 1 which is great as well.

They had the million sitting there to pay Holmes.

Im not saying they didnt have the money, but surely a club that is being investigated for salaray cap fraud shouldn't be allowed to sign players?

With how long it takes the NRL to get anything done they'd be unable to fill their roster on time if the waited for the investigation to finish. Wasn't the breach also in 2015 and self reported?

I duno mate, it still shouldnt make any difference tho IMO.

Manly couldn't purchase any more players whilst under investigation, maybe that rule should have been for the Sharkies too, different circumstances though

It just goes to show how hopeless the NRL is that it takes Cronulla self reporting on a separate issue to find this.

Everyone said it was a joke at the time and asked how they police it. Answer is they didn't and just assumed everyone was abiding by the conditions.

Haven't the NRL used terms like prolonged and calculated to differentiate between fines and stripping points and competitions ?

Still nothing new or surprising. We've survived tougher times than this. Personally looking forward to 2019 and how we respond after losing Holmes and the 'saga's' filling the papers recently.

I know it is probably unfair to compare against the punishment handed to the Storm but even from a common sense and general fairness perspective, I would argue what the Sharks did had more of an effect on their premiership win than what the Storm did.

Physical effects from their drug cheating would obviously still have been prevalent and now it turns out their coach had the significant advantage of being able to plan/coach his players ahead of schedule.

Would hate to see blokes like Paul Gallen stripped of their premierships but I think it's the only fair outcome....

The NRL is a shambles, can't keep any team in order except the Rorters

If Flanagan is issuing orders behind the scenes, then surely most of the coaching staff in place is in a buttload of trouble as well?

I agree with Oz in an oblique way. Not sure I want their title stripped (though it makes for good times down at the local needling Sharks fans), but the Storm saga has pretty much desensitised us to this sort of cr@p.

if the Storm hadn't got caught out, I reckon we'd all be a lot more outraged by this blatant pattern of cheating by Cronulla. In this day and age though? Who cares?
