I thought I would create a thread to kick start some discussion on the layout of the forum. IMO it needs a little bit of tweaking. Some suggestions or examples include...

    - Separate the forum rules + suggestions into their own section at the top of the page. I think they need to stay at the top of the page as constant suggestions and ideas for the forum will be needed at times for this place to grow.

    - Have the Fantasy section towards the top of the page as this is our bread and butter and what will attract most posters / new posters to this forum.

    - Have the off topic / forum games section towards the bottom of the page. Sure off topic chat is hilarious and great fun but I think separating it into it's own little section will be a reminder to all posters (especially myself) that any clowning around will not be tolerated in the more serious threads/sections.

    - An NRL rumour thread needs to be created ASAP. Maybe that could go under the Fantasy section?

Obviously the above comments are just my own personal opinion and may not be shared by other posters. My main focus behind creating this thread was to kick start the discussion and hopefully see others voice their opinions / suggestions on the layout.

    Discuss.

Stick the forum games in the fantasy section because that's what they are

NRL Rumours should be part of the rugby league section

    my 2 cents

Agree with a lot of what KFP said.

Other point us that we don't need that many different sub-forums. Most of us are used to posting entirely within one thread. Spreading everything out over too many different forums could be a bit if overload.

No problem moving News/Rules & Suggestions to have their own Category (Which is what General Board and Sports are.) I also have no problem with moving Forum Games to the Fantasy Section. (Only going to have 3 threads actively running there anyway.)

Regarding moving the Fantasy section up, when you load up the page it is still visible without scrolling. I am not sure I would move it above or into another category.

Regarding a rumour thread I agree it would be a better fit in the Rugby League section.

Going to post up a layout so you guys can suggest tweaks/name changes and fixes

    (Unnamed Board)
    - News/Rules
    - Suggestions

    (Sports Board)
    - Fantasy Section
    - Rugby League Section
    - Other Sports (As I said if we feel a sport is getting enough attention we can add more boards.)

    (General Board)
    - Off Topic
    - Introductions/Farewells (Feels misplaced here.)

Also while we are talking about it. In regards to the Fantasy Board. Once the season starts what do people feel about having a section where people make threads to specifically ask about their team/suggestions. It does mean we will have less of a Mega-Thread Fantasy discussion. However it makes it easier for people to follow advice for their team.

Oh and one extra thing is should we allow signatures? (People would be able to add their team to their signatures.)

I would like that. Nothing more annoying than people taking pot shots at Dragons/Broncos/Tigers fans when their team lose yet you don't even know who half the board supports.

Would be a great feature. Call it "Rate My Team". Will make it much easier for game time trade plans as many trade related questions can get ignored and bogged down with real life team related news

I know myself and a few others often do a lot of breakdowns of teams as well compared to others. So if the section hits off we can implement a RFR (Review for Review) or WHIR (Will Help In Return) tag to help people want to contribute more.

    Example:

    - Beast posts thread with his team. (He includes RFR or WHIR Tag)

    - I post my review, and then underneath link to my own thread with my team.

If you allow signatures can there be an option to hide them.
It's annoying when threads are more signatures than posts.

I don't really see the need for them, people can always use a team avatar.

What these 2 legends of the forum said.

Nothing worse than some poser who posts prolifically and they have some gif which takes up half the screen.

+1 for not needing signatures on this forum. If you want to show which team you support you can do so by your avatar or location.

Haha. I selected that stock forum avatar as it was the one that resembles me the most. Short dark hair, black frame glasses etc.

I found out that I share the same hairstyle as Honeysett. Maybe Im turning into a hipster and I dont even know it...

Anyone want to suggest a Forum Layout and Rate My Team section all good?

I like the idea of the rate my team section. Maybe even a thread for H2H teams?

I'll start by rating the tigers. Tigers = spooners.

A 'Rate my Team' thread should [in theory] un-clog the main Fantasy page somewhat Smile

H2H Thread good too, as people who don't Bye-Plan can fuck off there and not annoy proper Fantasy players Razz
