God signing if true and from what I read he has been brought on the promise he will be starting fullback, which is weird because I read a few weeks back that Lolohea had been promised Fullback next year.

I'm wondering who is telling Porkies and who will be the left out pissed-off man next year

Based on the small sample, you would think it will be lolohea who ends up on the bench or in nsw cup

Spewing newie didn't get Watson back, considering he is a local junior - reportedly the deal with Wests is for 500k or so a year... similar deal with Newie paying Ponga, its a payment for potential and in a couple of years could end up being a steal

Tigers are the undisputed champions at paying for "potential"

Newcastle have plenty of coin, they should have upped their offer. Anyway, nothing official yet so maybe something will change

    So far we have signed

    2 fullbacks
    4 centers
    3 wingers
    3 halves
    2 props
    2 hookers
    2 2nd rowers

As I've said before I can see centers bulking up over the off season or we are screwed

Guys like Masters, Eisenhuth and Felise must feature heavily in Cleary's plans as he hasn't recruited too many forwards.

Where does Connor Watson fit into the lineup? Rumours floating around that Wests are chasing him hard for next year. With Brooks and Reynolds locked in the halves and Lolohea slotting into fullback I fail to see where that leaves Watson? Hooker?

@Moose, He's been told Fullback hence why he is signing. (Money probably has something to do with it too)

So where will Lolohea play? I thought he signed on with Wests because he was guaranteed the fullback spot next year after Tedesco leaves?

Exactly what I heard. Tigers backline positions for next year looking very puzzling

    Maybe Josh Reynolds plays hooker?

I agree that Newie should have upper their offer for Watson, he could have been our 6 for next season. Prob a case of too many young guys in the side, looking for an experienced half to partner Lamb.

I always find it laughable when it's touted in the media that Player X has been guaranteed a certain position based on their signing.

Firstly, a coach would be fucking moronic to 'guarantee' a player a position and secondly, a club would be even more moronic to let something like that sneak into a contract.

I genuinely don't even think an off the field basket case like the Tigers (or even Newie or Parra for that matter) would do this.

    Media dribble.

An article on Fox has just said almost the same thing as me.

Yeah it would be more, "we will give you the opportunity to play x position". Not, "we guarantee you will play this position" IMO.
    I agree.

    Thumbs up Oz

I'm in the same boat with Jack Bird @ the Broncos.

Then again, I was reaching for air trying to puzzle out why Benji got signed, and that's turned out OK, so... what do I know.

Get good players. Play them. It'll work out. Apart from Hayne, whom everyone insists would have changed the course of history had he played FB for NSW, there aren't too many "wtf" and "we would win the premiership if he...." sort of positional decisions.

No reason a good fullback can't be a good centre. Or a super-sub that carves up every game. Cronk came off the bench for how many years at Origin level?

    100% This!

No coach worth a pinch of shit "guarantees a player a position and it certainly wouldn't be in a contract, so even if they say "we want you as our first choice FB" what they are really saying is " we want you as our first choice FB, but you'll only play there if your form warrants it and we don't consider someone else on the roster a better option"

He did change the course of history at FB for NSW, he doesn't play 1 in 2014 and you guys are one game away from 12 straight.

Just 2 years from the bench for Cooper.

Agree with you comments about just getting. Good players. That is the best way to increase your chances of a premiership.

Tigers get very complacent against sides the should beat, think they only need to turn up to get the 2 points, Knights will be up for this and at home I can't see the Tigers winning.
