So welcome back to the 2017 edition where I will document my teams journey from start to finish.
Through the high's and lows, this roller coaster won't be stopping until round 26.

For new posters to the site welcome and for returning people (I know you are just here for the free rep vote on every comment haha)

This will be the second year of winging this blog, but will continue to update this multiple times a week.
Will also give my thoughts on my team, why I traded/captained who along with how the previous week played out.

Not everything will make sense, there will be risk and some gambles but essentially the end result will be to finish as high up the ladder as possible.

About myself, I am just an average early 30s kiwi bloke who lives in Sydney and follows the Sharks.
Last year I finished 34th and won the sharks supporters league and have a decent track record starting from(174th in my first year in 2012) or as high as league 2 in The old sportal leagues.
The only blip being 2015 (When real life got involved and fantasy took a back burner)
So would like to think I know what I am doing but every year I learn something new too.

I watch every game, do my homework and more recently have enjoyed the odd punt on the real $$ fantasy sites with a few good wins.

So sit back and relax and hopefully this year will get some luck and not give everyone such a huge head start Wink
Like a daytime sitcom all I can guarantee is there will be drama, though there may be some gems of advice throughout the pages too though simply stopping by and commenting is great too

I also welcome comments and advice or any questions, so feel free to jump in here and post letting me know what you think.

Just remember that no matter how bad you start you can always recover if you put the effort in.
You only need to see how last year played out to see not to give up after round 1 Smile

    Starting team average estimates

775 Low score based on slight increase/role change/return from injury estimate
875 Medium based on predicted score
975 High based on above expectations

    Round 1 estimates

    Smith 60-70 x2 captain Mcinnes 55-65               (175/190/205)
    Fifita 60-70 Kaufusi 30-40                       (90/100/110)
    Debelin 60-70 Surgess 55-65 Taylor 50-60 Kromwich 40-50 Smat 35-45 Sironen 30-40             (270/300/330)
    Lamb 40-50 Elgey 30-40
                 (70/80/90)
    Talakai 30-40 Idris 30-40                          (60/80/100)
    Gutherson 40-50 Hayne 35-45 RTS 35-45     (110/125/140)

The above shows you how important the captain is and how you live and die by his score.

Based on the above scores, I feel Par would be 800+

Well a new year so going to reboot this for the 2017 season.
Didn't want to blow my load too early but thought now is the time to get this going.
Hope people enjoyed last years and wondering if there is new/extra they would like to see this time?

Anyways plan on making a short list of players per position just waiting on TLT so there will be plenty of action there (including why I am interested in them too)

Will continue the graphs and trades made and happy to answer questions throughout the year as well

    Open to suggestions too

Haha well the question is to go a conservative start and back myself to make the right trades or give it a shake with a more risky crash and burn strategy.
Unsure which approach his year but surely it can't be any worse of a start than last year Wink

The second options provides a shit load more excitement though that's for sure

Personally would like to see you pick a conservative/default team to start in the pack instead of having a 30000 rank handicap. Then use what you have learned to go on with it.

Fair point there and value your input.
Have a set group of players in mind so really just a case of playing the waiting game but you are probably right there Smile

You did beautifully last year. Traded to glory with just about every 50/50 going your way. Injuries were scarce too. Good luck this year!

Cheers Mr Rabbit, yeah got lucky at back end of the season with injuries but the team was decimated per origin so it probably balanced out haha.
The thing with a blog and discussing your trades in depth for everyone to see means there is a lot of hindsight and reflection involved after they are made, but also means you are less likely to make snap decisions.

This was my starting team last year (2015), interesting to see the composition of it and see what worked/didn't

Hey boozy. Looking forward to keeping up with you again this year. Your blog was one topic that I read every week last season, so already looking forward to it.

Can you post up the team you finished with to see the comparison?

    What an outstanding finish Booze

Remarkable considering the flops you started with

Seg, Lichaa (injury) Woods (poor start then injury) KEvans, LAM, K Mann

Thanks Welshy but that first 6 weeks at least half ended up injured or dropped so it was rough plugging the gaps with trades every week.
The positive (well a small one) was I was able to jump on a few late cows and bring in Smith who proved to be vital in helping the revival

@Pacey's Best  thanks mate, meant to be a +1 but had a fat thumb on my phone and it won't let me remove it. Haha I wonder how many others this happens to

On another note thinking its too hard not to picture Smith being in my side so will start with him.
Last year I had a couple injuries to both hookers.
While it was unlucky, it also cost me 2 trades to fix.

I had the Segayaro/Lichaa injury combo from Round 1 last year too.

Killed me before I had a chance.
