I haven't even started looking at potential pricing, so no idea who'll be in my team.
Depends how many cheap viable hookers there are as to whether I spend a spot on Grant or not.

Teddy looks nice as premium WFB given his bye schedule though.
I don’t know what I’ll say wow to yet.

On Teddy I think he will get cheaper he will be priced at 55 and I think the Roosters will come back to the field and be on back foot more in games. I could see Teddy dropping 150k over the first 6-8 weeks then you get him cheaper.

Ilias to Dragons, probs as good as it gets for a Hunt replacement tbf

Storm have got another NZ sevens guy called Moses Leo, was thinking he might be the next Warbrick but he's already older, so it'll be interesting to see what comes of it

Do think NRL should be looking at sevens for recruits more, rather than actual rugby.

I think I had to read about Moses Leo 3 or 4 times before I realised he was his own person and not just a shortening of Moses Leota.

Just read a Fox story on Tamika Upton and which QLD club she signs with to be closer to her family in Rockhampton. Apparently the Cowboys location could be key in swinging her decision their way.

    Townsville to Rocky 725km
    Brisbane to Rocky 630km

'The Shire' is indeed a news source but treating any of their predictions or soothsaying with anything beyond a grain of salt is fraught.

Look it would've been filed from Sydney, and to us, anything north of Noosa are all just round the corner from each other.

Legit wish him all the best

Assuming Mam is suspended and Hunt plays 5/8 - think he'll like just playing eyes up and letting ARey take over. Or perhaps he plays a bit of hooker?

I'm totally aware of this & tbh I often forget the order in which towns appear on the Bruce Highway, it was more a sly dig at some earlier posts treating Fox Sports articles as some sort of reliable source.

It's the off season so I don't have much material to riff off for my usual schtick.

On a side note I just walked past Bronco's training and they were hard at it. Didn't see Ben Hunt, the shirker (although the western sun was in my eyes so it could have been reserve grade for all I could tell).

I'm assuming he plays 5/8 as well. At least for a while. I'm trying to think of an older halves pairing but can't for the moment.

Also Hunt is from Rockhampton so by rights he should have gone to the Cowboys Very Happy

Can load up on Raiders to start the year again. What's Danny Levi's price going to be?

Roosters and Manly play every big bye round, and Roosters also play in all the minor byes too.
Probably going to suck for their origin stars with other random restings and rotation but in theory non origin Roosters have great byes for fantasy

Origin players from Gold Coast/Melbourne are great after their early bye

Origin players from Dogs and Manly are the worst, they each have a stretch where they will play 1 NRL game in 5 weeks.

    Thankyou Milchy Beating Heart

Sounds suss to me Chammas reporting Hunt manager told the Dogs you’ll need to be in the 800k ballpark. Obviously notional value must not apply anymore

Hypothetically if i was offered a job for 600k in brisbane, a sydney company would need to offer 800+ min for me to even consider it, and i probably still wouldnt. Suss!!!!

Brisbane is a shit hole though, and no beaches. Sydney is over priced af but much nicer. Plus some gorgeous beaches. Depends what life style you want really. I'll give you tree fiddy to sign for the Perth Bears.

    Get fucked m8

Tbh id prefer the hour drive either north or south that we do here for beaches over sydneys fuckwit collector bondi

But if hunt wants to settle back down in bne post footy then its much more appealing to be able to do that now rather than fuck around moving somewhere new in sydney and then having to do it again in two years.

Yeah from Hunt's perspective, it makes sense to take the 600k job in Brisbane than the 800k in Sydney. Especially as he just left a 950k+ job in Sydney.

Personally as a jilted Dragons fan I'm much happier he's gone to Qld than gone to Bulldogs, as it fits the narrative of why he wanted to exit to begin with.

From an NRL perspective, there probably needs to be some market valuation rather than pure $$ assessment for salary cap*. Otherwise "big clubs" are at an advantage of attracting/retaining players for significant less than what they're worth.

*assuming the goal is every team being as equal as possible, regardless of how well managed they are

I'm 'bias' (sic) here but if you were a 34 year old playing in a sport with an average retirement age around 34/35 (and that's padding it out) you'd probably take a 2 year contract at $600k per season plus a job at the end over a 1 year contract with an option @ $800k

I don't know what any other offers were but i imagine the length of the contract played a part.

TBF no club is (or more pertinently should be) signing a 34 year old on more than what Brisbane have paid him regardless of what he was on at the Dragons.

I'd sign with the Broncos for the free oranges at half time

Early value watchlist for Season 2025

    HOK
Connor Watson - starting 80-minute hooker for the first half of the season, with Sandon Smith at five eight
Sandon Smith - base price starting HLF for the first half of the season with Sam Walker out - should have DPP HOK freeing up a HLF spot for Cleary/Moses

    MID
Terrel May - likely a big-minute PROP at the Tigers
Stefan Utoikamanu - way undervalued for a PROP heading to the STORM

    EDG
Jack Williams - if as I expect, he starts at EDG with Lane to play in the PROP rotation

Josh Schuster? If he starts, although it is unlikely, may he also be available at HLF DPP?

    HLF
Jerome Luai - permanent dominant HLF role - a significant uptick in points
Te Maire Martin - the new dominant kicker at the Warriors - has big value

Lewis Dodd? - maybe - depends on how he is priced?
Luke Metcalf? - should be value but Martin is the better option?

    CTR
Mark Nawaqanitawase - 257k starting for the Roosters
Jaxon Purdue - base price replacement for Holmes/Feldt
Bailey Simonsson - if Lomax is at WING and Bailey is at CTR

Blaize Talagi? - if he is given CTR DPP - not really worth it at HLF with dominant Cleary?

    WFB
Isiah Iongi/Joash Papalii - whoever gets the starting spot at FB - maybe even both if Iongi gets FB and Papalii gets WING

      Current date/time is Fri Dec 13, 2024 8:09 am
