At the moment I'm looking at Harris/Doorey to Brailey/Ford which still leaves me with almost 400k bank. I wasn't sure who to get rid of for Brailey, but the Harris injury makes the decision easy. I would've had to use most of the bank otherwise.

Hoping injuries are kind so I can actually use that money in the next few weeks for Hynes and the like.

ROUND 5 WRAP

Trade OUT: Harris + Doorey

HOK: J. Brailey

Got what I paid for with a score in the 50s. The other gun hookers went ballistic this round which didn't help though.

MID: Haas (c) | Murray | Hopgood

Strong across the board here. Haas' minutes were annoying considering the Broncos smashing the Tigers, but he racked up the points. Murray bounced back too. Hopgood is close to peaking, questions will be asked soon whether he's a season keeper.

EDG: Hosking | Cartwright

Looks like Hosking will keep his spot based on his performances... hopefully. Carty Party looks to be expired, especially if Lane is returning.

HLF: Moses (vc) | Johnson

Down week for Moses, cut him some slack considering it was 12 v 13 for 20 minutes. SJ winding back the clock!

CTR: Alamoti | Thompson

Solid from these two. Alamoti continues to impress, and ITT with his up and down scoring. He looked better on the field though, so hopefully that translates to some consistency.

WFB: Tedesco | Miller | Nicoll-Klokstad

Teddy....... very unfortunate. The unluckiest decision to start the year with. The HIA means he misses another week and copped a huge price drop. Miller turns out to be a gun, and CNK is showing to be consistent.

INT: E. Katoa | Loiero | Preston | Warbrick

Kind of par for the Storm duo - they'll have up to Round 9 to earn their place in the squad or get punted. Preston making huge gains, hopefully doesn't miss time with that hand injury. Warbrick solid enough for a winger I guess.

EMG: Smith-Shields | Boyd | I. Katoa | Trindall

HSS sucks, but priced so low I can't get rid of him, just need to pray he gets a try. Katoa plodding along, and Trindall got named in the 17 but didn't play... so no cash gains. Annoying. Boyd on the bye.

Potential targets:

- Ford likely to come in this week, finally. Bit delayed compared to everyone else but had other priorities. Still low 400k, DPP, and lots of money to make.
- In the market for a CTR, so maybe Lemuelu. His JS is safe for at least 2 weeks with Kaufusi still out, so he can still pump out 40s. Was also named at edge before the suspension, so hope he keeps the spot. Some other fallen CTRs I have an eye on are Lomax and Crichton. Also an aim for Bird prior to the Round 13 bye if possible.
- For a cash down option, Nikorima possibly with Milford out injured.
- Bit of FOMO on Walsh and Trbojevic, though Turbo has some hard games coming up. Could bring him in Round 8 against the Tigers, but that's very close to Origin.
- For guns, I would need to aim for Hynes, Cleary, Cook or Grant at some stage. Probably 2 of these. Not sure when, or who to trade out, but these things usually figure themselves out.

of the centres you mention I like the look of lemeulu (mainly because hes a solid edge scorer) if I needed one hes he I'd go for.

Yeah I'll probably keep Teddy. Don't see a point in trading him out when everyone would be trading him in

Carty will be a trade soon as will Trindall and if I were you I think you need to consider moving HSS on next couple of weeks.

Was set for a solid score before doing his ACL, unfortunately. Will be a trade out.

MID: Haas (c) | Murray (vc) | Hopgood

Haas as a reliable captain yet again and Murray with another 60 score. Decided to hold Hopgood this week just to see what happens - turns out his minutes are reduced and his role has now changed. With Paulo returning too, that's more middle minutes to be spread out so Hopgood has moved from gun to irrelevant very quickly. Likely a trade out.

EDG: E. Katoa | Loiero

Looks like these two can stick around for another week at least. Round 9 bye coming soon for them though.

HLF: Moses | Johnson

Strong performances from the halves. Helped a bit with not having Cleary who just had to hit 100. I could bring in Hynes or Cleary for next round, but my team balance would be off because I already have two highly priced halves.

CTR: Alamoti | Thompson

Alamoti got moved to the wing which affected his score. Thompson started to show positive signs before suffering an ankle injury - haven't heard of severity, but looks like only a week (or none).

WFB: Miller | Nicoll-Klokstad | Warbrick

Miller and CNK are carrying the WFB for me. Warbrick got next to no ball which is concerning as well.

INT: Hosking | Cartwright | Preston | Ford

Really strong from the interchange. Glad I held Cartwright and Hosking looks like he's cemented the edge. Preston got binned which affected his score, but he's fine.

EMG: Boyd | Nikorima | I. Katoa | Tedesco

A sin bin affecting Nikorima's output. Probably could've got a 30 odd score without it and help his cash gen. Hopefully welcoming Tedesco back to the team next round too.

Potential targets:

- Need a cash out of sorts somewhere with some cash gen upside. Likely using all 3 trades. I haven't saved one yet, but have copped a few injuries (and some initial bad selections) so always fixing something up. Maybe Couchman, Luke or Sele.
- If ITT is out, then I'll have to trade in a CTR as well. Looking at Bird. Lomax or Crichton could be budget picks too but look like they're still losing money, and haven't shown any consistency yet. Or maybe just get Lemuelu for 35-45 scores.
- Then gun choices... as mentioned I could get Cleary or Hynes. Would mean I'd need to run Boyd at HOK. Or I could bring in Robson as a straight upgrade for the injured Brailey.

ROUND 7 WRAP

Trade OUT: Hopgood + Warbrick + Brailey
Trade IN: Bird + Cleary + Luke

HOK: Boyd

Decent from him again and he's going well enough now. Outscored some gun hookers. Will probably leave him here until the wheels fall off.

MID: Haas (vc) | Murray | Ford

Haas and Murray are trucking along, though Murray will be a trade out by Round 13. Ford got a decent score and still has some cash left to make too.

EDG: E. Katoa | Loiero

Interesting one here. Will likely just keep both for next round then re-assess in Round 9. Their next score will determine if they stay or not, really.

HLF: Cleary (c) | Johnson

Went for safety with Cleary. Couldn't afford Hynes anyway as I wanted Bird as another trade in. SJ had a lower game but he's fine. He has great byes, but think some may start to ask if he's a keeper or not in the next few weeks as he's made a wad of cash.

CTR: Bird | Alamoti

A gun CTR in Bird is always nice. Alamoti got moved to the wing (again). He'll be a trade out really soon. If he plays CTR then he can stay around for longer, but Bulldogs are just cursed this year.

WFB: Miller | Tedesco | Nicoll-Klokstad

Was a disappointing week overall for WFB. I'm really missing Walsh, but he's now 100k more than when I considered him last which is annoying and likely to play Origin.

INT: Moses | Hosking | Preston | Cartwright

Only concern here is Carty who got benched. TLT will determine whether he's a trade out or not, but he's putting his hand up.

EMG: Nikorima | I. Katoa | Luke | Thompson

Cashed out to Luke who went ok but not great. Just hoping he gets some attacking stats soon to get his price moving along.

Potential targets:

- Manu is an option after being named at 5/8. Who knows who long he stays there though, as Walker should be coming back you'd imagine. Manu has an average of 69 from 4 games at 5/8.
- De Belin is at a good price at 614k and scored 67 points in 80 minutes last week. Still unsure about his security in that role, so trading him in isn't without risk. Plays Round 13.
- Crossland is an option I guess, but again, more question marks about role with Gamble on the bench and Mann also able to fill in at hooker. The minutes are an unknown and he scores mainly through tackles, so needs high minutes to be useful.
- Not sure on him, but Cheese is back on the menu. He's dropped now to 478k and his fitness looks to be back to normal. It's really his scoring which is the question, as he doesn't have great base and needs attacking plays to get to that high 40 to 50 mark. Really a punt on Roosters improving, though he also has nice DPP.
- Maybe Host as a cow option too with Koloamatangi out for an extended period. If Host can average 40 then he'll make his 150k and be playable in the 17 also.

ROUND 8 WRAP

Trade OUT: Alamoti + Cartwright + E. Katoa
Trade IN: Host + Manu + De Belin

HOK: Boyd

His highest score the year with 74! Gets his price moving quick and doing a good job as starting HOK.

MID: Haas (vc) | Murray | De Belin

Haas is suspended for a week, which is why I pulled the trigger on JDB early. Got lucky with the Katoa HIA, and JDB likely would’ve played 80 if not for a dubious HIA. Murray annoying, but likely hold until R13.

EDG: Hosking | Host

These two started my week off very poorly. Hosking got subbed off, but doesn’t seem concerning yet. Host was meant to average 30-40 and make money, instead played 20 odd minutes for a single digit. Never again.

HLF: Cleary (c) | Johnson

Safe from these two. Am alert to SJ’s recent scoring at his price, but is a hold for now given carnage elsewhere.

CTR: Bird | Manu

Massive returns from these two. Ideally set for the year now in CTRs. May bring in one more for depth as mentioned below.

WFB: Miller | Tedesco | Nicoll-Klokstad

Kind of disappointing from Miller but WFB is a wasteland, but one to keep an eye on. Nice bounce back from Teddy (finally). CNK was looking great before a HIA, looks like he’ll miss 2 weeks with their schedule, plus the bye, so is a likely trade out.

INT: Moses | Preston | Loiero | Ford

Main annoyance is Moses with a low score, but wasn’t the game condition for him, and Ford with a stack of demerits.

EMG: Nikorima | I. Katoa | Luke | Thompson

Some cash generated from the Dolphins, but ITT isn’t named (again) for the third week in a row. Was going to keep for byes, but he’s a dead spot now and a likely trade out.

$22k ITB / 20 trades left (plus 8 from Round 20)

Score: 895 / Rank: 3515

Potential targets:

- With CNK and ITT out, I need a WFB or CTR (moving Manu to WFB) just to field 17. Looking at Lemuelu and Drinkwater as options. Lemuelu has kept his edge spot with everyone returning and looks to be a safe 35-45 in CTR which is serviceable, has DPP, and plays the first bye. Drinkwater also plays the first bye and looks to be back in form, but Cowboys as a whole don’t look as good as last year.
- For cash out options, leaning to Bula as pure cash out even though he is a Tiger, and Granville who looks to benefit from Taumalolo’s injury. Looked at Sele and Sipley too but have more question marks about minutes or awkward pricing.

ROUND 9 WRAP

Trade OUT: Thompson + Nicoll-Klokstad
Trade IN: Bula + Lemuelu

HOK: Boyd

Just keeps scoring well, hoping to hang on until the wheels fall off. Gun hookers have their off weeks too, so no real rush to upgrade yet.

MID: Murray (vc) | De Belin | Ford

Likely trading out Murray next week, got another 40s score and that's not cutting it at his price. He was always a trade at R13, so just pulling the trigger earlier. JDB went huge, and Ford did ok considering all his demerits.

EDG: Hosking | Preston

All base for Hosking, was a terrible game for attacking stats overall. Preston got a HIA but now seems to have peaked and doesn't play R13, so can be moved on safely I think.

HLF: Cleary (c) | Johnson

Cleary didn't hit Hynes' peak but 65 is good considering the game conditions and no goals. SJ another game with all base, Warriors didn't score so no points for goals. Kind of getting concerned about him though.

CTR: Bird | Lemuelu

Back to earth for Bird but still a good score for a CTR. But what a week to bring in Lemuelu! Probably wouldn't have if CNK didn't get a HIA.

WFB: Miller | Manu | Tedesco

Solid across the board here, no real complaints. As long as Manu is at 5/8, he should be going big. Miller on the bye next week but likely keep since WFB is kind of void of other consistent options.

INT: Moses | I. Katoa | Luke | Loiero

Moses hit the ton which carried my week and offset not having Hynes. Loiero was there for the loop, and took Host's score when he got 31 which seemed safe. Choice was then play Luke, Nikorima or Bula, and chose Luke in the hope that he'd get some attacking stats against the Tigers. He ended up getting decent minutes, but the sin bin robbed him of a better score.

EMG: Host | Nikorima | Bula | Haas

Nikorima making more cash is great, obviously wish I played him, but took 2 try assists and an absurd 31 tackles for him to hit 43 - so Host felt like a safe loop. Bula making cash is nice too for the EMG. Haas will return next week and strengthen the squad. Moving in an upward direction after a not so great start to the year.

$102k ITB / 18 trades left (plus 8 from Round 20)

Score: 960 / Rank: 1644

Potential targets:

- Have been eyeing up Horsburgh way before lockout was lifted. Has the ideal 70 minute role now and passes the eye test. Always risk with Raiders forwards, but he’s as good a shot as any. Likely moving Murray on for him for reasons above. Plays Round 13.
- Aside from that… stuck on what to do this week, so might just hold. I want Hynes but that would involve trading out SJ who averages over 60, or using both trades on something like Preston and Loiero. If I were to cash down, then someone like Tatola or Luki look good for value and bye purposes, but probably need 1 more week to watch their output. Loiero still has cash to make and could be a hold for longer. Preston seems to have plateaued but doesn’t seem super urgent as a sell either.
- Can also target Hopgood, Matterson or Fifita as a straight upgrade on Preston with the cash available.

Yeah very boom bust with Moses but think he’s improved his floor in losses, and obviously gets amongst it when they win. Just gotta ride it out

Likely keeping Hosking as long as he’s starting, but probably trading out Preston. Early thoughts Horsburgh or Hopgood, maybe Tatola

HOK: Boyd

The finishing touch to a huge week with this bloke. Scoring keeper levels and highest average HOK in recent weeks. Was going to punt before R13 but he's looking like a keeper at this rate with great DPP.

MID: Haas (vc) | De Belin | Horsburgh

Haas' lowest score in a thrashing but that doesn't really matter. JDB huge again, and Horsburgh did what he was brought in for. Of course Preston scored a double, but 60 with a double is kinda eh. The process was correct, I think.

EDG: Hosking | Loiero

Solid again, these two will stick around for another week.

HLF: Cleary (c) | Johnson

Huge from the halves. Cleary had a stack of demerits but still pumped out a 92 and SJ was all base again, glad I held him.

CTR: Bird | Lemuelu

Non-CTRs in CTR doing their thing. Lemuelu on the bye next round, so Manu will slot in here.

WFB: Manu | Tedesco | Bula

Pretty solid, can't ask for much more. Teddy seems to have turned a corner, somewhat, but not getting huge attacking stats, just solid. Bula making nice cash.

INT: Fifita | Moses | Ford | I. Katoa

New recruit Fifita got a 71 so that was pleasing. Ford got binned then a HIA (?) but apparently he's ok. If he's named, then he'll stay, but if he's out then he may be traded. Moses though got a cat 1 HIA so he misses R11 now and R14 due to bye so 2 of the next 4. He plays all major byes though. Could opt to punt him for another option like Brown, or save the trade. Be my major decision all week.

EMG: Luke | Miller | Nikorima | Host

Niko and Host chugging along which is pleasing, but Luke got season low minutes which was kind of odd. Not much to move him to until R12 if Te Whare gets a starting spot though. Overall a huge week and very happy with how the team is shaping up.

$63k ITB / 16 trades left (plus 8 from Round 20)

Score: 1038 / Rank: 679

Potential targets:

- Ford is out with a head knock, meaning he'll miss R11 and R12 (bye). Probably not worth keeping just for a R13 score. Likely trading out, and considering Drinkwater at a similar price point who also plays in R13.
- The other concern for the week is Moses. Because he's out with the HIA, along with 3 Dolphins, then I have to play Luke in the 17 (yuck). So looking at trading out Moses and going for the points play. For options, looking at R13 guns like Matterson, Hopgood, or Brown. Leaning against Brown as the Dolphins halves already cover R13 and don't think the 'extra' points would be that differential.
- Also after another HOK at some stage for the byes, but deciding between Robson and Marshall-King. Both are on par with averages, but no real rush to get either just yet.

So it's a tough one and a gamble but perhaps see what you can get using some of your cheap bench players first. Move Manu to centre and try some different combos

Thanks mate! Yeah the Moses situation is tricky, like you said holding seems sensible as he plays major byes with a huge ceiling. But there is some logic to the madness in trading him out, so I don't hate the idea

I hadn't considered trading out Katoa but you make a point, and taking a risk on VTW could well pay off. Hard to see him not starting again but would backfire majorly if he doesn't play in R12/13 as expected

Just had a quick look and if I do Katoa to VTW, then I can trade Luke to anyone up to 537k - but no one in that range interests me at all
