Moving on Garner is fair imo.

If you had to choose between Wilton or Walsh, who would you want more?

Staggs will be up and down, as with most centres. He's a decent enough starting price though.

Walsh all day, only because I think he has the potential to gun this year, missing link to broncos attack

Btw this is completely un factual, he could be the same as last year average wise but I am willing to play that out

Trades have been made, only an injury will change them now

It'll be interesting to see how he goes in an attack where he doesn't need to initiate the majority of it. I would have started him last week too.

One thing about him if, I recall correctly, is that the scoring changes that came in last year affected him in a negative way more than most. Won't matter if he takes his game to another level though.

Yep and he also did nothing in attack, scored barely any tries, breaks or Lba etc, I’m thinking attacking bonanza on a weekly basis

GarethEllisismyDad wrote:Trades done garner and smith out

    Reece walsh and Wilton in

Reason: garner had to go, he infuriated me watching and I’m annoyed I put him in, I do think in theory he could become an 80 min edge for panthers but I won’t stick around to find out

Smith is a bit of gamble to take out, I’m not massively down on him, I just want to spend his cash elsewhere, with the middles injuries roosters have I see him spending a good bit of time there and I wanted him to have a hooker role, I think he’s somewhat ineffective in middle

Walsh I’ve had high on my wish list all season, was just waiting for him to be named, this week might not be his best game but I’m picking and sticking with him so the sooner we get the show on the road the better

Wilton is an 80 min player guaranteed with Graham’s suspension, he is a bit of try scorer from that position and I think he will have a high average, 45 last week with 16 demerits, if he cleans that up and can sneak into a high 40s or low 50s average we are cooking on gas

These changes allow Ford to come onto bench instead of stuck in interchange

And means I keep staggs, who while disappointing last week is at least a ctr mid gun that allows me to choose between Alamoti and HSS on a week by week basis for his ctr partner

I’m fully aware both trades are somewhat luxury trades, but they made me feel happier and that’s the main thing (I do also think they are both players I will be happy holding long term)
Reckon those are good trades. Gotta bring players in you rate, and Walsh and Wilton seem to be those guys.

I like keeping Staggs, just seems underdone to me. Cramping not a good sign of match fitness, he will improve big time over the coming weeks.

Can't believe how different our teams are yet we only scored a couple of points apart in R1. I too traded out Garner...opportunity cost etc so can't be too upset. Good luck for the rest of this week

    Round 2 review

    Score 739, Rd 2 Rank 45,022, Overall Rank 31355

Lost about 2000 places, but have seen some much more disasterous weeks than mine so should count my lucky stars

Trades I'm going to give myself a pass mark for

was early off brandon smith so vindicated and early on to reece walsh, his score was reflective of how well he played and will a run of games at suncorp i see lost of points and prce rises in his future

the startegy to trade garner was solid and he actually hugely suprised and impressed me, playing like a man possessed for penrith, I brought in wilton who had a solid but unspectacular 50, without many attacking stats, he looks assured though in that role and happy to have him

    team review and thoughts

Hodgson 29 pros he played 80 mins, cons everything else, dropping off tackles for fun with 8 missed tackles, offering zero run metres, i guess another pro is they dont have anyone to hook him to, so he has job security, but he is officially a plodder ( in fantasy terms) have to fix this position, hookers can score far to well (and consistently) to have such a dud here

Carrigan 63 part of my big 3 mid combo, great game from him, great score, won his personal head to head vs haas again 2 weeks in a row, (i have nightmares about how easily payne racks up points and dread watching him) doing what I want and expect it to continue

tapine 63 return to form from him, had very similar stats to the first week just didnt miss tackles,  would like him to get a few more mins, but aware that its not really rickys style, still happy to have an hold him

murray 45 only 59 mins this week for murray which directly contributed to a lower score, not a major issue as long as  this isnt the standard, and penrith away is the hardest fixture in the league, no attacking stats this year yet but they will come

BIG 3 MIDS are a pretty permenant fixture TBH

Hopgood 85 guy played even better than the previous week securing a couple of try assists to go with his offloads, he is so accurate and effective at them its a joy to watch, I was certain penrith would beat souths so figured to do so cleary would play well hence why i didnt consider captaining hopgoat, he definitely comes into consideration now, and respect to anyone who did (side note having 3 gun mids and hopgoat suring up edge makes me very pleased)

Wilton 50 cut out his missed tackles from the previous week to improve his score, sharks are a good team, he is a good player and when hynes comes back they'll be even more dangerous, happy with him, hoping for more of the same, if he can avearge anywhere from mid 40s to low 50's i'll be stoked

Cleary 74 (c) big disappointment this week, was trying his best, put up some great kicks, not much to say, no real panic, he doesnt play this week so will see if i trade him, my only concern then is how to get him back in? and if majority of people do trade him maybe he becomes a POD if he returns to form, awaiting TLT to see if I have half cover

Hastings 32 another poor week for jackson, do I continue with him? Ive missed the douehi train, and I have to find the money to upgrade him, I do think newcastle should improve with time spent on the field together and actually think gamble will prove a good foil for him in pongas absence, his breakeven is huge this week so I'm probably gonna lose more money on him unless he brains it, long term i know he has to go/be upgraded i just don't think its the most pressing concern right now

HSS 29 played the roulette with him and Alamoti as my second starting centre and chose wrong this week, watched the game and didnt really notice him so will take 29 points, canberra not up to much so far, nothing attacking him from him yet and he is in my mind behind alamoti and staggs so will most likely run in emergencies most weeks

staggs 18 from bad to worse for Kotoni, really thinking I should cut my losses, 70k down the swanny, I honestly don't see him getting much better, hes  done nothing in the last two games to warrant his price or continued faith, and I am very much one of those people who believes in sunk cost fallacy, if Jesse arthurs is named left wing to replace corey oates I can see myself switching to him and playing him at centre, part of the romantic in me wants to hold him for the glory of a couple of rousing performances at suncorp versus dragons dolphins and tigers, this one is a head scratcher for sure (any readers feel free to comment) a 28 and a 18 in consequetive weeks is putrid I know that

MIller 32 not an amazing score but thats consecutive weeks of 11 and 9 tackle breaks, if you know any other players beating that let me know, hes due a big game soon and maybe at home vs dolphins this week it will come

warbrick 30 selected him vs the bulldogs as I thought storm would crush them, unfortunatley the impact of munster was quite big, still he manages to churn out non disasterous scores, and got a few TBs, his job secuirty is also there so happy to hold him for now
walsh 54 prolly should of scored more, was involved in everything, looked right at home on the big stage as predicted, great speed, great skill, solid in defence, confident, this will continue, get him now if you don't have him

    Interchange

Ford 4 very unfortunate with a HIA, if he misses this week I will still probably hold him as I presume he will get the role back and his dual is appealing still, (side note seems like every week HIA will happen accross the board so no point lamenting this)

Boyd 25 eye test he played awful, titans were woeful, he did not show any poise or control and If this continues he will be out of the job soon, if hes named I cant see myself trading him, but the less titans players I have the better, will await TLT

Utoikamanu 52 firstly 58 minutes is excellent from stefano, if thats what he gets everyweek I'll be ecstatic, 40 tackles a try and 134m running is also great, i missed the first half and the second was an absolute shit fight so hard to gauge his performance, i have a plethora of mids, with my big 3 who all have a good bye schedule and hopgood who i can play there so stefano will defintely be someone I trade out in the future to upgrade either hooker or half and down grade this bench/interchange position, but his breakeven next week is 16 and a fixture against an injury ravaged canterbury middle means I think he stays around to try and make a bit of money,

TRindall 54 great score from trindall, you love to see it, on week 1 i couldnt believe people were choosing Isiah katoa instaed of him for the price of 20k, guy is a great little player, the news on hynes seems more positive so i think his days are numbered, but wikll await the developments there until i need to make a choice

EMERGENCY this is where the fun starts

Preston 62 39 tackles, 1 try, 116 running metres, but most importantly the guy looks like he belonged! he got his 80 minute role and he performed, ciraldo (and myself) will now have complete faith in him going forward, he will be better for that game, and whilst in no way would I expect 60 every week, he is now an option to eiother play in my team or on the interchange, great news

alamoti 46 another one that proved to me, ciraldo and fantsy owners he belongs, he is now an actual option to play on a weekly basis, reminds me of penisini from last year, someone who whilst not spectacular will churn out decent scores (for a centre) enjoyed watching him,

perham 43 i had missed the previous dogs game, so to see him play this well again brought me great joy, another one that proved he is a playable option, so although i missed his points im ecstatic that all 3 dogs players proved they can be trusted

Doorey 32 solid but unspectacular, would like a better option but not planning on wasting a  trade to get it hopefully he keeps being named and with a breakeven of 9, he will hopefully generate some more cash, (obviously if i had shown some gamble i could have got cartwrights price rises and points in week 1 and 2 but i was suprisingly risk averse on week one when it came to parra edges)

biggest concerns going into round 3 is halves,

will trindall and boyd be named, what to do with hastings, do i sit cleary for a week with his bye
staggs, cut my losses, who is his centre replacement?
hodgson, needs to be set free, which gun hooker can i afford if any? don't particlular want to get another subgun and them spectacularly fail like hodgson

overall I am feeling positive despite the poor scoring thus far

Mids and edge are set in stone,
WFB is set with walsh, miller and perham,

have enough cover on interchange currently,

    people I am considering,

Hooker, mahoney, korosiau, robson, egan, liddle
    HLF, reynolds, Hughes, DCE,
    CTR, farnsworth,

THANK YOU for reading, please  feel free to critiocise, comment, say hi, whatever you want,

    enjoying 2023 thus far

I am getting Reynolds this week as well, surprised that he is so popular. I guess lots of teams need halves.

Not sure on Koroisau, he looks to be a lot of the problem at the Tigers at the moment. I guess if he can play badly and still get 54, he could step up on his day.

What're your thoughts around Hastings? I would've thought he'd be the more urgent sell this week. Especially with Gamble now in the team, will lose some kick metres.

I suppose it's going to depend on TLT and whether or not Trindall/Boyd are named.

I’m not in love with Hastings, and he’s disappointed so far

But I see Reynolds as underpriced and should kill it for next few weeks and I’m
More desperate to get rid of Hodgson than Hastings

There’s an outside chance he comes good, but the loss of brailey might effect him further,

Don’t have the money or options to trade Hastings for someone worthwhile at the moment

For the moment, I’ve brought in Reynolds, as well, but my gut says he’ll be injured sooner rather than later. Hoping I’m wrong and my gut feeling is the tacos I had for dinner.

Also, how are expecting TBoyd to bounce back against the Storm? With it being the Tits first home game, I expect an inspired effort, but possibly just another mid 30s score for him? It was suggested to me to play Doorey at 18, Boyd at 19. If Doorey can plod away and crap out a 40, then it would be mighty tempting to leave him at 18. A bit to consider, but back yourself if you’re confident in this setup.

Lastly, I really enjoy reading your insights and your team is coming along nicely. Hope all goes well for you this round cheer

With the amount of people getting HIA’d and injured I’d expect that we’ll all being dealing with injuries on a week to week basis, Reynolds is a risk for sure

Boyd having hooker just makes him desirable, hopefully titans do improve this week, really seems that Holbrook can’t get them working

I’m not an expert at looping but I’m gonna play Ford in 17 and see what eventualities I can do

Thank you for the kind comment and for interacting, I really enjoy writing it as I helps me think through, any comments are appreciated
