You don’t think too much about the death of those cricketers from our childhood, like Rod Marsh, as they were “old” but Warne was a very similar age as me. It reminds you that you never know what is just around the corner. Warne was a great cricketer, not so much a great human -never too far from controversy but I’m still shocked. No doubt he went out with a bang!

Warney was the first athlete that I remember, as a kid, really idolising. Throwing down deliveries at Cricket wanting to be like him etc. Of course, I was too young to understand Warney the party man at that point, but I remember being like I want to be this dude.

Hope there's plenty of bevvies upstairs for him.

I have to stop looking at these predicted Rd 1 team articles. Even so close to TLT they are all so different -Fox Sports was easily the most embarrassing. This weekend is always the slowest weekend of the year.

I've finally decided to make a team today. Didn't actually realize the season was so close to starting.

I was considering resisting the temptation and not making a team this year to save myself those moments where I sit down and waste 20 minutes tinkering with teams but hey even if had more time from not playing fantasy, in the words of Hans Moleman "I'd just waste them anyway".

Just logged on and saw Matt Burton is available at CTR. Wow I remember the talk here that they'd remove that as he'd play half this year and stop everyone picking him at centre but not so. Cool.

Yep, was all individual brilliance, nothing to do with the club he was at.
The best running half in the game, that also has a great kicking game and kicks goals.
Those that miss him as starting CTR will really regret it when he gets another 100+ point game this season.

Warnie was my all-time favourite cricketer, and an all round great guy. Life of the party and personality plus. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten, legend.

I have to agree that leaving Burton out of your CTR could be a monumental mistake as his price could take off. It's a tough one with so many potential CTR cows.

I currently have Mann in my HLF propping up that guy Cleary. My CTR is Tago/Penisini - but I know come TLT I will be loathe to start without him. Tough choices ahead. Probably I will move Mann to his DPP and sack someone else

Haha, love the first two minutes, Burton was all Tedesc-who??? beauty side-step. Let's hope Burton can step up for the Dogs and be the star everyone is thinking.

Vacillating between "yes, Burton is a must have, gun half available at centre" and "god no, the Dogs are trash the only thing he'll get are KMs and some tackles."

Will probably look to pick him up in round 7 after the Dogs' horror Manly/Storm/Panthers/Rabbits run, at which point I highly doubt he'll be above his starting price.

Man what a sad day for all Aussies - first Rod Marsh then the Spin King.

Saw a tweet Warnie put out earlier in the day sending his condolences to Marsh and his Family then later on Warnie passes away. Just doesn't feel real man.

Prayers up to his family and close friends, was an inspiration particularly to me as a spinner growing up. Idolised his game.

Few beverages will be sunk in his memory tonight, RIP <3

Watching Shane Warne as a kid in those test matches was the reason I got into sport and cricket. I'd sit there during school holidays over summer and watch the whole 5 days and he was always the reason, watching him spin his absolute magic and the ultimate competitor and the will to win for his team and country. It's never been the same since he stopped playing for me. He was magic and the absolute pinnacle of the sport. RIP mate, what a shocking tragedy.

Russell only needs to be as "good" as Simonsson to make 100K. Seems worth a punt to me.

I remember watching the Warne/Gatting ball in an (English) university common room. Apparently Warne had been told to bowl like mud in the county matches leading up to the test, so as far as the English were concerned here was this bleached yob Ocker bowling leg-spin of all things, what was there to worry about? And Gatting was one of the best players of spin in the world at the time.

First ball changed everything. I (and everyone else) thought the keeper must have knocked the stumps with his knees because that ball had gone a foot and a half down leg side. Nope. Welcome to Warne's world, he was the literal gamechanger.

Simonsson last year? Are you willing to wait the whole season for that 100k to be made?

That's a good point lol (looks like in round 15 he hit that mark).

That was certainly a shock this morning reading Marsh & Warne died both great men & will be missed. Marsh was more my generation & I always remember the famous under arm bowl at the mcg & marsh was the only aussie who showed he didn't like or agree with greg chapple deciding to do that so as kiwis we had instant respect for marsh because of that.
