    -----------------------------------------
    Round 19 Team Issues:
    -----------------------------------------

    Injury Ward:
Joseph Manu (Calf/Cork injury - a bit unclear)

    Ill-Discipline:
Brandon Smith (2 weeks of suspension left)

    Dropped:
    Ronald Volkman

    Covid/Illness:
    None.

    Benched:
    None.

    Rested:
    None.

    -----------------------------------------
    Round 19 Squad:
    -----------------------------------------

    Availability:
    18 players prior to trading.

    Returning:
    Nathan Cleary

    -----------------------------------------
    Round 18 Trades:
    -----------------------------------------

    Thursday;
    1/ Walsh -> Tedesco
    2/ Barnett -> Grant
    3/ Hold
    4/ Hold

    -----------------------------------------
    Popular Targets:
    -----------------------------------------

    BASEMENT
    Aaron Booth HOK $269k

    MIDDIE
    Adam Doueihi HLF/WFB $522k
    Latrell Mitchell WFB $620k

    PREMIUM
    David Fifita EDG $645k
    Euan Aitken CTR/EDG $653k
    Payne Haas MID $676k
    Harry Grant HOK $718k
    Cameron Murray MID $816k
    Daly Cherry-Evans HLF $836k
    Damien Cook HOK $925k

    -----------------------------------------
    Confirmed Trades:
    -----------------------------------------

    👇 Trade outs:
    Reece Walsh $546k (WFB)
Did a job for me through the bye period - unfortunately, missed a few opportunities to go even better.
Now dropped to the bench with uncertain minutes and some very capable upgrade targets.
    (Made $47k)

    Joseph Manu (CTR/WFB) $778k
One of my favourite players to own and usually great to watch too.
This was a really reactive trade (something I kicking myself for).
I'd hoped to take Koula's score against the Dragons (who concede the most fantasy points of any team), but between multiple Covid outs and a subdued performance, Koula ended up on 20 points.
With little time to make a decision I ended up jumping to Aitken for the cash and reasonable scoring potential but immediately felt regret and think it wasn't a good use of a trade in my team balance.
    (Made $156k)

    👆 Trades in:
    Adam Doueihi (WFB/HLF) $522k
Shifted from James Tedesco to Doueihi who could offer similar scoring for $200k less.
While I have some doubts around Doueihi reaching peak performance for a while (coming back from ACL), I did find the price/value too much to resist.

    Euan Aitken (CTR/EDG) $653k
As mentioned, quite a reactive trade and I wish I'd stuck to my original plan.
Nothing wrong with Aitken, but in retrospect I would've been happier to see the season out with Manu, even if that meant saving a trade this week. In future 20 points is palatable enough and not worth spending a trade on.

    💰 Cash ITB:
$347k - plenty to spend on improvements, but not enough trades to make many improvements

    General thoughts:
Just a real sense of regret and disappointment that I didn't stick to my process.
I'm hopeful that it could pan out, but it will be more through good luck than good management if it does.

Post by easytiger Fri Jul 29, 2022 12:36 pm

    Round 19 Results & Review:
    -----------------------------------------

    Score: 882
    Rank: 2,253 ⬇
    Par: ~940

    Captaincy: Daly Cherry-Evans (50)
I'd left it on DCE from last week and was a little late changing it to Cleary.
Cost 15 points, so no big drama's but a bit silly on my part.

    Surprise package: Matt Burton (83)
Not hugely suprising, he has 80+ scoring in him, but there weren't many positive surprise packages this week.

    Justified: Latrell Mitchell (48)
Putting up a 48 against the Melbourne Storm is a fair effort and continues a good run for Latrell.

The Jury is out: Mitchell Barnett (43)
It's not an outright disaster score, but it's difficult to know exactly where he will play each week and what level of involvement he will have.
Fitzgibbon potentially out for a few weeks, maybe opens the door for the preferred edge role.

    Underwhelming: Josh Jackson (31)
Hit his lowest score of the season and less important to the Bulldogs now in both yardage and defense.

    Regrets:
Had the option of trading a potentially overvalued Centre in Joseph Manu in order to avoid Koula's 20 points.
I made the snap decision in the 5 minute window on Friday between Manly's game and the Roosters game and instantly regretted it.
A really poor decision on my part that I hope to learn from.

    Cash generation:
    Very little at all.

    General Thoughts:
The Manu trade was just terrible, essentially it's a wasted trade and removes a POD with big potential to be a positive difference for my floundering season.
I should've just taken the 20 points from Koula and stuck to my planned trades (Doueihi & Grant for Walsh & Barnett).
As fate would have it, avoiding the 20 by grabbing Aitken instead of Grant ended up netting me the same total points (but for no real squad/depth improvement).

In general it was a pretty rubbish week for my team; Klemmer (40), Jackson (33), D(C)E (50), Aitken (31), Doueihi (34), Barnett (43), Moses (40), McInnes (45), Savage (32), NPR Koula (20), NPR Pole (23) - not much to get excited about and questions over whether they can compete.
In comparison some popular guns went big: Tedesco (88), Haas (83), Reynolds (87), Lane (72) & iPap (70)

Four trades are added this week, with six weeks remaining...

    Round 20 Team Issues:
    -----------------------------------------

    Injury Ward:
    None.

    Ill-Discipline:
Brandon Smith (last week of suspension)

    Dropped:
    Ronald Volkman

    Covid/Illness:

    Benched:

    Rested/Stood Down:
    Tolutau Koula (Manly jersey)

    Availability:
    18 players prior to trading.

    Returning:

    -----------------------------------------
    Round 20 Trades:
    -----------------------------------------

    Thursday;
    1/ Koula -> Haas
    2/ Hold
    3/ Hold
    4/ Hold

    -----------------------------------------
    Popular Targets:
    -----------------------------------------

    BASEMENT
    Moses Mbye CTR/WFB
    Deine Mariner CTR

    MIDDIE
    Adam Doueihi HLF/WFB
    Nat Butcher MID/EDG

    PREMIUM
    David Fifita EDG
    Payne Haas MID
    James Tedesco WFB
    Harry Grant HOK
    Cameron Murray MID
    Damien Cook HOK

    -----------------------------------------
    Confirmed Trades:
    -----------------------------------------

    👇 Trade outs:
    Tolutau Koula $512k (CTR/WFB)
After a slow start, Tolu ended up becoming quite the cash cow, picking up a few solid scores right towards the end to help give his price a late nudge.
Unfortunately was also part of "Manu-gate" for me.
    (Made $292k)

    👆 Trades in:
    Payne Haas (MID) $702k
Part of the Fantasy elite, and looking much better for the weeks off.
Nice to be able to pick him back up for nearly $200k less than what I sold him for many weeks back (a sort of stocks-cow)

    💰 Cash ITB:
$157k - enough to do an upgrade next week

    General thoughts:
I'm a bit behind on this, and have been short on time lately - enough to make me think I won't run a team tracker next year (or it will be very very cut back)

    EasyTiger - Team Tracker 2022 - Page 4 Empty Round 20 Results & Review

Post by easytiger Fri Aug 05, 2022 6:20 am

    Round 20 Results & Review:
    -----------------------------------------

    Score: 816
    Rank: 2,489 ⬇
    Par: ~865

    Captaincy: Nathan Cleary (1)
Sent off early in the first half for a spear tackle and will miss the next 5 weeks as a result.
Not a lot you can say about that one, except he caught the majority of us.
Interestingly, I had a look at my Captaincy averages
    Cleary: Avg 63, as C 56 (7 times)
    Hynes: Avg 69, as C 55 (5 times)
Haas, Angus, Moses, DCE: Combined Avg 55, as C 69 (8 times) - Is this the universes way of telling me to stay away from the obvious Captains and get on the C roulette Laughing

    Surprise package: Adam Doueihi (70)
After a pretty poor first half, Doueihi bounced back with a huge second half to help win the game - doing pretty well in only his sixth game returning from an ACL.

    Justified: Cameron McInnes (66)
I'm not sure what it is, but Dale Finucane always seems to miss a fair chunk of each season (at least the last few years it seems that way).
With Finucane out there are more minutes available for McInnes and he hasn't disappointed.

The Jury is out: Mitchell Barnett (42)
May as well label this section after Barnett.
TBF I thought he was a trap when I bought him, hopefully next year I trust my gut a bit more.

    Underwhelming: David Klemmer (48)
Yeah, 48 is fine. The underwhelming aspect is he for some reason got about 20 minutes less game time than usual.
I chose Klemmer on the basis that he does get consistent big minutes, but there's a sense he may be falling out of favour at the Knights.

    Regrets:
Euan Aitkens 31 & 39 coming in for Manu continues to look like a poor trade.

    Cash generation:
A bad week - lost nearly $100k off total team value.

    General Thoughts:
Another rough week. It's been a year of too much second guessing myself, but I feel in a better position to tackle season 2023.
I've got 3 trades left and hope to be somewhat sparing with those trades - despite the heavy injury toll from this round.
Sometimes the gutsy play is to be patient rather than going for the quick upgrade to player averages.

    -----------------------------------------
    Round 21 Team Issues:
    -----------------------------------------

    Injury Ward:
Ronald Volkman (surgery - season ending)

    Ill-Discipline:
Nathan Cleary (Spear tackle - 5 weeks)
David Klemmer (Club imposed suspension - verbally abused a trainer)
Mitchell Moses (Finger - 3 weeks?)
Xavier Savage (Leg - 1 week)

    Dropped:
    None.

    Covid/Illness:
    None.

    Benched:
    None.

    Rested/Stood Down:
    None.

    -----------------------------------------
    Round 21 Squad:
    -----------------------------------------

    Availability:
    16 players prior to trading.

    Returning:
    None.

    -----------------------------------------
    Round 21 Trades:
    -----------------------------------------

    Thursday;
    1/ Cleary -> Tedesco
    2/ Moses -> Murray
    3/ Hold
    4/ Hold

    -----------------------------------------
    Popular Targets:
    -----------------------------------------

    BASEMENT
    Kade Dykes WFB

    MIDDIE
    Adam Doueihi HLF/WFB

    PREMIUM
    Dylan Brown HLF
    Payne Haas MID
    James Tedesco WFB
    Cameron Munster HLF
    Daly Cherry-Evans HLF
    Joseph Tapine MID
    Cameron Murray MID
    Damien Cook HOK

    -----------------------------------------
    Confirmed Trades:
    -----------------------------------------

    👇 Trade outs:
    Nathan Cleary $833k (HLF)
I must admit I had a creeping suspicion that Cleary was not going to be worth the price ticket this year (bought when priced at about a 75 point average).
Admittedly that was dragged down by the shocking 1 pointer last round, but looking back he averaged 62.2 over my period of ownership (14 rounds).
Those 14 rounds were highlighted by 85, 85, 79, 79, 70, but included some very moderate scores: 45, 54, 58, 63, 65 as well as the missed origin game and a rested game.
Certainly quite different to my ownership last year where his bottom 5 scores were: 61, 72, 82, 87, 88.
    (Lost $149k)

    👆 Trades in:
    James Tedesco (WFB) $754k
A moderate price tag for the Elite fullback.
Despite a fairly tough draw to come, I'm backing Tedesco to produce some good scores - he looks involved and in good form.

    💰 Cash ITB:
$236k - enough to put out whatever next weeks fire is.

    General thoughts:
Probably the most injury affected round of the year (in terms of fantasy relevant players).
It seems very common for people to have lost 3 or so players this week - it could make for an interesting ride for fantasy teams over the last month.

I would've loved to bring in Murray & Munster, but with just 2 trades left it seemed prudent to hold fire and see how things go.
It's certainly another lesson in why every trade is valuable and despite the short run of weeks - having a few extra trades up your sleeve at the business end of the season is vital to making some big moves.

    Round 21 Results & Review:
    -----------------------------------------

    Score: 1020
    Rank: 2,636 ⬇
    Par: ~1070

    Captaincy: Nicho Hynes (89)
It's nice to think I finally picked the right Captain.
It seemed a bit of a no brainer selection TBH, given I didn't have Murray (who would've been the other contender).

    Surprise package: Angus Crichton (79)
With a fairly sedate run of scoring this year, a big 79 from Angus was great to see (although doesn't make a huge difference given his high ownership in the top 2k)

    Justified: Brandon Smith (48)
He looked like he was struggling for match fitness after a month without football, but nevertheless produced a handy 48 points at almost 1PPM.
Hopefully he can snag a few cheeky pies to finish the season.

The Jury is out: Jason Taumalolo (34)
I've been keen to move him on for a few weeks, especially with Reuben Cotter returning.
There's no real need for Coach Payten to play Lolo for big minutes and he doesn't have the power (or scoring) impact he once did.

    Underwhelming: Euan Aitken (40)
It could've been much worse as I'm pretty sure he was on about 9 points with half an hour remaining.
Surprisingly matched Joey Manu's score, but I know who I wish I still had (especially given what I could've done with the extra trade)

    Regrets:
A big week for popular trade-ins; Cameron Murray (94) and Cameron Munster (93)
Where most teams seemed to pick up one or the other, I was stuck with Taumalolo (34) - the difference between making ground or conceding this week.
I was fairly excited about Munster playing fullback against the Titans, but unfortunately put myself in a position where I couldn't risk the trade (or the chance Munster is rested for R25).

    Cash generation:
Gained back the $100k I lost last week - i.e. treading water, but at this point of the season & with 2 trades remaining, team value is largely irrelevant - my team is my team.

    General Thoughts:
I felt I was still a good chance to break into the top 1k a few weeks back when 1755th, but now it's looking like I'll need a fair few things to go my way to have much chance of getting a 3 digit rank.

    Injury Ward:
Ronald Volkman (shoulder surgery - season ending)
Mitchell Barnett (Thumb Injury - possibly back R25)

    -----------------------------------------
    Round 22 Squad:
    -----------------------------------------

    Availability:
    17 players prior to trading.

    Returning:
    Xavier Savage

    -----------------------------------------
    Round 22 Trades:
    -----------------------------------------

    Thursday;
    1/ Barnett -> Fifita
    2/ Hold
    3/ Hold
    4/ Hold

    -----------------------------------------
    Popular Targets:
    -----------------------------------------

    BASEMENT
    Tom Freebairn MID/EDG $250k
    Jaeman Salmon HLF $298k

    MIDDIE
    Nat Butcher MID/EDG $574k
    Adam Doueihi HLF/WFB $612k

    PREMIUM
    Dylan Brown HLF $669k
    Latrell Mitchell WFB $720k
    Harry Grant HOK $729k
    Isaah Yeo MID $741k
    Joe Ofahengaue MID $761k
    Cameron Munster HLF $811k
    Cameron Murray MID $883k

    -----------------------------------------
    Confirmed Trades:
    -----------------------------------------

    👇 Trade outs:
    Mitchell Barnett $609k (MID/EDG)
I was skeptical of buying him and his propensity to disappoint, and TBH even then he underwhelmed.
    A timely 74 in R17 bookended by a bunch of underwhelming 30's and 40's.
Now a finger injury with a chance he might suit up in Round 25 - no thanks.
    (Made $20k)

    👆 Trades in:
    David Fifita (EDG) $670k
Speaking of disappointing - David Fifita has managed to consistently disappoint owners across the NRL season so far.
Strangely I feel fairly bullish about bringing him in.
With Holbrook under pressure to keep his job, it seems Fifita is a good chance to stay playing 80 minutes and appears to be injury free.
With a relatively soft run in Manly, Dragons, Knights & Warriors - I'm hoping he can snag a few tries and finish the season off in style (whilst still allowing the Titans to win the Spoon - sorry)

    💰 Cash ITB:
$175k - with 1 trade left, it should be enough to do something if need be - hoping to save it for R25.

    General thoughts:
A late injury to David Klemmer created the opportunity to upgrade him to Cameron Murray instead.
It's certainly the safer option in one sense (Murray should certainly play all 4 games and likely is needed for big minutes across them).
The downside would be if Klemmer returns next week - then I'd rather have Klemmer+Fifita then Murray+(injured)Barnett

Mostly I'm just left with the hope that some of my low ownership players pull some positive surprises: Klemmer, Moses, JJackson, BSmith, XSavage, Fifita, Robson - there's a chance

    Round 22 Results & Review:
    -----------------------------------------

    Score: 1016
    Rank: 2,495 ⬆
    Par: ~1005

    Captaincy: Nicho Hynes (74)
The obvious choice amongst my players and continued an impressive run since the R13 bye (lowest score in that time has been 61)

    Surprise package: Brandon Smith (71)
I was hoping to get a playable 40-50 type score from him and this was definitely a bonus.
Essentially the difference between gaining ground and losing ground this week, and largely due to an impressive try scoring break.

    Justified: David Fifita (83)
Not one of the "big-energy" players that you love to own, but consistently makes enough tackles, offloads and tackle breaks to have a fair base.
Each match you just hope for one of those Fifita specials, and this match didn't disappoint.

The Jury is out: Jason Taumalolo (38)
I'm not expecting any big scores our of Taumalolo to finish the year, but hopeful he can score at least one good 50+ loopable score over the remaining rounds.

    Underwhelming: Josh Jackson (38)
Lower match minutes this week (especially for a guy who is built to play 80).
Between him & Taumalolo I have a fairly weak 17th/18th man.

    Regrets:
The Manu trade for Aitken (41) continues to haunt me - it was the very definition of a sideways trade and ultimately hugely unnecessary.
An extra trade would've been very handy to deal with the JJ/Lolo issue.

    Cash generation:
Made just shy of $100k this week.

    General Thoughts:
The season is almost done. I'm hopeful having a trade in hand might allow a late boost in rank.
At this point a top 2k rank seems a fair aim, but certainly a disappointing season overall.

    General thoughts:
A bit of a surprise to have 20 available players, which on the downside makes looping a bit more limiting (i.e. it has to be a JJackson/Lolo loop).
It's a pity to have had to let the Munsters, Murray, iPap, Grants go sailing past but that's the situation I put myself in this year.

    Round 23 Results & Review:
    -----------------------------------------

    Score: 1035
    Rank: 2,274 ⬆
    Par: ~1015

    Captaincy: Nicho Hynes (80)
Two tries this week and ultra-reliable fantasy scoring. Like Cleary, he just finds a way to rack up the points each week.

    Surprise package: Angus Crichton (103)
It took a dilapidated Tigers edge to yield Angus' first tonne in 5 years.
Adam Doueihi will have nightmares about Angus running over him for 2 Tries in addition to a TA, 8 TBs and over 200 metres gained.

    Honourable Mention: Brandon Smith (59)
No tries, no problem. When he's switched on, the Cheese is one of those players you love to own - busy, involved, full of energy = good scoring.

    Justified: Mitchell Moses (63)
Back a week early after only missing two games.
The Eels need him and it was a bonus to see him put up a good score in his first game back.

The Jury is out & Underwhelming: Josh Jackson (43) & Jason Taumalolo (35)
Not the worst players to be running at 17 & 18, but neither look likely to set the world on fire.
Despite generally only getting 40-50 minutes, Fonua Pole seems to have entered the conversation for a bench spot (last 3 scores: 49, 43, 43)

    Regrets:
No real regrets this week. Some players went very very well (Crichton, Klemmer, DCE, Fifita, Tedesco, Moses, Smith, Hynes), some had a down week (Burton, Haas, Harris, Doueihi, Robson)
It remains to be seen if holding the last trade was the right play.

    Cash generation:
    TBC

    General Thoughts:
Up a couple of hundred spots.
Looking likely to end with a 1000-3000 rank depending on how the fantasy Gods allow things to play out.

    EasyTiger - Team Tracker 2022 - Page 4 Empty Round 24 - Trades & Team Issues

Post by easytiger Fri Sep 02, 2022 10:09 am

    -----------------------------------------
    Round 24 Team Issues:
    -----------------------------------------

    Injury Ward:
Ronald Volkman (shoulder surgery - season ending)

    Ill-Discipline:
    None.

    Dropped:
    None.

    Covid/Illness:
    None.

    Benched:
    None.

    Rested/Stood Down:
Euan Aitken (Unavailable due to personal reasons - no indication for how long).

    -----------------------------------------
    Round 24 Squad:
    -----------------------------------------

    Availability:
    19 players prior to trading

    Returning:
    None.

    -----------------------------------------
    Round 24 Trades:
    -----------------------------------------

Thursday; (I have one trade left)
    1/ Volkman -> Aitken
or could do Savage -> Bird/Lomax/Ramien etc

    -----------------------------------------
    Popular Targets:
    -----------------------------------------

    BASEMENT
    Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow WFB/CTR
    Lachlan Miller WFB

    MIDDIE
    Zac Lomax CTR
    Jesse Ramien CTR
    Jack Bird CTR

    PREMIUM
    Jayden Brailey HOK
    David Fifita EDG
    Reuben Cotter MID/HOK
    Reece Robson HOK

    -----------------------------------------
    Confirmed Trades:
    -----------------------------------------

    👇 Trade outs:
    Ronald Volkman $270k HLF
A good start with a 38, but not seen following the bye so ultimately a bit of a fail (as had hoped he could add some bench depth).
Not much you can do about season ending injuries though.
Trading him out will boost me to 20 green dots this week, with hopefully Aitken back next week.
    (Made $35k)

    👆 Trades in:
    Ronaldo Mulitalo $431k CTR/WFB
With Aitken out this week I needed to trade a CTR or play 1 short (16).
Trading Volkman left me $445k in funds and the alternative was to trade a green dot Savage/JJackson/Lolo.
Ultimately, with only 2 games left, I felt that Mulitalo had a fair chance of putting up comparable scores to the more expensive alternatives, while creating more depth for R25 where I would have no trades.
A player averaging 40 across the season and up against two bottom of the table opponents seems a good deal for $430k/

    💰 Cash ITB:
$14k is my season ending balance.

    General thoughts:
I had hoped to save the trade and use it for a luxury boost in the last round (i.e. JJackson/Lolo to an elite player), however that wasn't to be.
It further reinforces how much of a dud sideways trade doing Manu -> Aitken was (despite universal opinion at the time being that it was a smart trade).
Still, it was my call, and it was incorrect. Aitken netted 192 points over the period, whereas running Koula's 20 + Manu in the following weeks would've netted 231 in total (i.e. 39 points more plus an extra two trades - as I wouldn't have needed to trade Aitken)
One of those trades would've been Jackson->Munster - who went on to score 93, 81, 63, 24 in the following 4 weeks or 103 points more than Jackson who I had to play instead.
It's funny how those little innocuous trades can snowball (in this instance it's a rank of ~1400 vs 2100 with a week to go)

    Round 24 Results & Review:
    -----------------------------------------

    Score: 909
    Rank: 2,103 ⬆
    Par: ~890

    Captaincy: Nicho Hynes (56)
His lowest score since Round 12 (still not a bad floor) it what was a pretty poor scoring week all round.

    Surprise package: Adam Doueihi (86)
It's not hugely surprising to see AD put up a good score in a game the Tigers should have won.
It's more a surprise that he's been playing to such a decent level given he's returning from ACL (I gather players are usually at their best in their second year returning)

    Justified: Ronaldo Mulitalo (61)
Brought in as cover for Euan Aitken and didn't disappoint providing my fourth highest score of the round.

The Jury is out & Underwhelming: Josh Jackson (30)
JJ is definitely in contention for dud buy of the year.
I was attracted by the stability he'd offer (and figured a 45-50 average plus bye-round points made it a reasonable pivot).
Sadly, has been getting reduced minutes of late and this week was credited with missing 7 tackles for a score of 30.

    Regrets:
David Fifita looked ON for a good score, picking up 46 points in 47 minutes before seeing out the match on the sideline (with a minor injury).
It would've been handy had he played out the game - but such is the life of a fantasy coach.

    Cash generation:
    Basically $0

    General Thoughts:
Gained 160 spots, so not a bad week all round, but I'm really lacking the punch to make any genuine headway in overall rankings.
This will definitely go down as a season of missed opportunities.

    -----------------------------------------
    Round 25 Team Issues:
    -----------------------------------------

Injury Ward, Ill-Discipline, Dropped, Covid/Illness, Benched, Rested/Stood Down:
    None.

    -----------------------------------------
    Round 25 Squad:
    -----------------------------------------

    Availability:
21 green dots for 21 players - I don't think this has ever happened to me in the last round of a season!

    Returning:
Euan Aitken (returning from missing a week due to personal reasons).

    -----------------------------------------
    Round 25 Trades:
    -----------------------------------------

    All done and dusted

    -----------------------------------------
    Popular Targets:
    -----------------------------------------

    NOTHING OF NOTE
The final round is just the small minority with trades left trying to fill last minute holes or looking for a player to score a try or otherwise hit a homer in the ninth....

    General thoughts:
Wow round 25 already and the season is done.
No trades and no red dots - it would've been fun to get to loop someone in the last round, but nevertheless there's a hell of a lot worse problems you can have in fantasy then 21 green dots.

So yeah, it's just a case of try to pick the best 17 and then sit back and hope for a few things to fall your way and see where you end up.

    EasyTiger - Team Tracker 2022 - Page 4 Empty Round 25 - Results & Review

Post by easytiger Wed Sep 07, 2022 6:05 pm

    Round 25 Results & Review:
    -----------------------------------------

    Score: 915
    Rank: 1,734 ⬆
    Par: ~855

    Captaincy: Nicho Hynes (52)
I briefly considered Robson (76) this week, but decided that my advantage was having a full contingent play, so why risk losing that advantage on a left field Captain.

    Surprise package: Cameron McInnes (71)
TBH there unfortunately weren't too many surprise packages this week and Cam always seems to step up with the increased role he has when Finucane is out.

    Justified: Reece Robson (76)
I thought Robson would likely take advantage of an inexperienced Panthers middle (given their first choice 13 were rested) and had him in my mixer accordingly.
It's interesting, Damien Cook was the overwhelming #1 Hooker candidate to finish the season and accumulated a total of 315 points post the R17 bye (admittedly he was unlucky to get Covid).
Reece Robson by comparison scored 463 points over the same period. I often think that while high averages are great, there is also an undervalued benefit to having players that might not be fantasy-elite, but manage to play every game.

The Jury is IN & Underwhelming: Josh Jackson (42), Jason Taumalolo (26)
Yeah, like my TPJ ownership before him, JJ proved to be a real dud this year - swapped from the more lucrative Lock position to edge, and then had his 80 minutes cut to 60/70 minute performances - not ideal.
I had an inkling that Taumalolo would have lower impact and less minutes across the last month (especially with Cotter returning), but lacked the trades to do anything about it.
Fortunately I managed to avoid playing either of them.

    Regrets:
The end of the year pretty well fizzled out for me.
I did make some minor gains, but lacked the trades to make any interesting plays - the value of trades over the last stanza of the season (R19-25) I think is under-rated and often a time that you could make some valuable gains IF you had reasonable team value and trades in hand.
I had hoped that Brandon Smith, David Fifita (v Warriors), Mulitalo (v Knights) might have given me a little one-off boost, but it wasn't to be.

    Cash generation:
    Lost ~$100k.
Final team total value of $13.804mil (inc $14k in the bank).
A net gain of $4.404mil which is surprisingly $120k more than last year when I finished ~300.

    General Thoughts:
It was low level nice to scrape into the 2k in the final week, but all in all a pretty disappointing year with far too many mistakes and a fair bit of bad strategy to boot.
If I can summon the will, I might do a bit of an end of season post-mortem.

I'm thinking of doing a bit of an off-season review

It might give any forum stragglers some new content to fill the gaps, or if nothing else might give me some more clarity about the things I did well and the things I did poorly across the various seasons.

    If possible I'll try and cover;
    - NRL Fantasy (Classic)
    - NRL Draft
    - Supercoach rookie season
    - NRL Mixer

EasyTiger - Team Tracker 2022 - Page 4 Empty NRL Mixer - Season review

Post by easytiger Tue Oct 04, 2022 1:26 pm

    NRL Mixer: Part one
    -----------------------------------------

May as well start here, as it's the most fresh in my memory.

The NRL Mixer was a clever sponsor driven addition to the fantasy season.
I think it was a good idea, very accessible and a great way to promote the NRLW game to the very involved fantasy community.

    -----------------------------------------
    Week 1:
    -----------------------------------------
    Score: 554
    Round Rank: 63

    Team:
    HOK: Cook 57
    MID(W): Taufa 62 (B)
    EDG: Fifita 71
    HLF: Hynes 80 (B)
    CTR(W): Kelly 85
    WFB(W): Tonegato 57

    Thoughts:
I was intending on using Taufa (NRLW lock for the Eels) and Isabelle Kelly (NRL CTR) as locked-in positions for as long as possible across the season.
It would've been smarter to start with Bremner (Roosters fullback), given I'd heard Trent Robinson say the Women were looking impressive and far ahead of where they were at in the previous comp (that they won).

    -----------------------------------------
    Week 2:
    -----------------------------------------
    Score: 429
    Round Rank: 52

    Team:
    HOK: Robson 51
    MID(W): Taufa 42
    EDG: Lane 75
    HLF: Hynes 56 (B)
    CTR(W): Kelly 37
    WFB(W): Tonegato 56 (B)

    Thoughts:
After a good start in week 1, I managed to back it up with a solid week 2.
In a week with very few popular players going large, Shaun Lane was probably my edge here (pun intended).
I preferred Tonegato's match up (Eels) over Bremners (Broncos).

    -----------------------------------------
    Week 3:
    -----------------------------------------
    Score: 429
    Round Rank: 1520

    Team:
    HOK: Robson 76
    MID(W): Taufa 16
    EDG: Young 68
    HLF: Hynes 52 (B)
    CTR(W): Kelly 30
    WFB(W): Upton 55 (B)

    Thoughts:
The last round of the NRL regular season ended up being a bit of a bad week, but in retrospect I wasn't too far off the mark.
I'd expected a lot more points from Hynes up against the Knights, but it was just a bit of a rusty game from the Sharks.
Taufa's 16 was a killer, just so many MT's and it was low enough that it caused me to rethink my strategy there.
Otherwise Robson and Young were good picks (Young unfortunately was given an early rest and should've ended up 80+)
