Possibly something about differentiating between a kick and a play-the-ball (and something that would have been more relevant back in the days of contested play the balls)

Or perhaps from the days of contested scrums, to differentiate between a kick and a rake? But yeah, seems to be a hangover rule from a different time. I dont see a reason it should be a rule... but as it stands, it is.

Normally rules like that are in place to limit something but I can't for the life of me think what that rule would be in place for?

it would be there to stop the bloke raking a the ball from the play the ball from kicking it backwards.
Not to mention it was a knock on as well.. he kicked it straight into his own hand

2nd look shows the reverse angle. Like Charmayne Palavi at Mad Monday, straight for the young lad's money maker.

I was sure there was a slow mo one where it shows it hitting his arm

Anyway, its skillful and assy, but against the rules so shouldnt have been a try lol

What a spectacle and massive victory for international rugby league. To see a sell out stadium entirely red looked amazing. To hear the Australian anthem sung by a Togan crown gave goosebumps and was a testament to the character of the Tongan people.

Living in an area with a large islander population the red tide grew slowly as Tonga made it's way through the World Cup, culminating in flags on houses, flags on fences, flags on cars & people hanging out of cars waving flags. Some people never took them down.

Pretty much as soon as the grand final was over, there was a tsunami of red and in a time there's a new story everyday about road rage this game brought the opposite. Plenty of beeps, cheers, thumbs up as the community came together. It reminds you of grand final week back in the 80's

was certainly awesome to see on TV as well, a passionate crowd just makes the game so much more enjoyable. Take note NRL.

Oh wait nup lets play every game in an empty super stadium. Forget what I said, nothing to see here.

I wonder if the Storm are allowed any home games while there is no AFL on.

Seems to me incredibly smart marketing and great exposure.. So I don't think that will happen unfortunately Sad
