    Legends of League

Post by ryno_ on Thu Sep 07, 2017 7:20 am

Legends of League, in partnership with Paladin Sports and the Mark Hughes Foundation, are bringing back a host of footy legends for the inaugural LOL Tournament, to be held on the Central Coast on November 18th.

A host of former footy stars and cult heroes will take the field one more time during the six-team tournament with over $100,000 worth of prize money up for grabs.
A percentage of the gate takings will also be donated to the Mark Hughes Foundation.
Canterbury, Newcastle, Manly, Parramatta, Brisbane and a Barbarians side will compete in nine on nine matches that will last 30 minutes each.

Manly: Solomon Haumono, Steven Bell, Craig Hancock, Danny Moore, Scott Donald, Shannon Nevin, Chad Randall, Mark Bryant, Luke Dorn, Travis Burns, Michael Witt, Heath L’Estrange, Jamie Goddard, Cliff Lyons, Steve Menzies (captain)

Newcastle: Kurt Gidley, Robbie O’Davis, Clint Newton, Adam Woolnough, Scott Dureau, Daniel Abraham, Todd Lowrie, Craig Smith, Matt Hilder, Russell Richardson, Ben Cross, Brad Tighe, Jeremy Smith, Owen Craigie, Danny Buderus (captain)

Parramatta: Nathan Hindmarsh, Michael Buettner, Dean Widders, Ian Hindmarsh, Tim Smith, Joel Reddy, Mark Tookey, Matthew Keating, Dennis Moran, Luke O’Dwyer, Brad Dew, Wade McKinnon, PJ Marsh, Brett Finch, Luke Burt (captain)

Brisbane look pretty strong (duh). Leon Bott and Scott Minto gracing the field together is worth the price of admission alone. Would have liked to see Scott Prince play but he's too busy playing touch footy for QLD I guess. He's still in phenomenal nick, would shred a 9-on-9 comp.

Newcastle outside of Gids and Robbie O (also in great shape) look potentially a little slow for a reduced numbers game.

Parramatta naming Joel Reddy seems against the spirit of the "legends" title but hey. They also look a little too round. Theyll win the fan favourite award with Hindmarsh playing the entire tournament with his short around his knees.

'Berry look pretty good - hadnt even realised half of these lads had retired, but theyve balanced it nicely with a few chaps who will be worrying about prizemoney buggering up their centrelink means test for the pension.

Barbars, keeping the tradition of being a "best of the teams not good enough for a full side". The thought of Craig Wing wrestling men again is giving me some very confusing thoughts for a happily married man.

I'm pretty sure Pieman suspects it's me.

And while it is undoubtedly tempting to go the lazy option and just downvote his posts........I've still been going to the proper effort of pointing out his idiocy and calling him the moronic simpleton that he is.

I 100% know it's not you mate looking at the stats.  Allthough you were high on the list of suspects :pp:

It's just a piss poor look.  We all post shit that deserves the odd downvote, but doing it systematically like a fucking 12 year old is just pathetic.

Sounds like it'll have a 7s vibe to it - and those are brilliant days.

Friend's husband was training for this but despite best efforts he has let himself go a little and couldn't quite make it back, much to her amusement. You didn't hear it here but Fox need something to put on their footy channel in the off season. Invite the boys around for a few frothies, it will be televised.

On a separate note are they bringing old referees back too ? Wouldn't mind seeing Tony De Las Heras going around again.

haha it doesnt bother me to be honest mate.

I suspected it was ozzy because it literally started after I specifically mentioned giving him an upvote to make him feel better a while back. I also suspected Ryno because he cant ever get it over me in any debate, ever - so he had to go down that path. Ive got my eye on NoWorries tho ..  What a Face Its prob rabbits tho, considering I caused him to have a meltdown a few years ago and basically got his mod powers stripped from.

I thought it was pretty funny to be honest. You know you have really rattled someone when they systematically downvote every one of your post just because lol

    The People'sChamp, haha.

I know it doesn't bother you and was literally going to say in my original post I know you don't give a fuck. It just looks shit when a bloke posts something positive and someone down votes it. It can be tracked but it takes a bit of work and time. I know it's not OSM, allthough I was surprised it wasn't lol!

I CBF. Im sure he's been downvoted previously for being a barely literate peanut but not systematically.

Will be very interesting to see how seriously players take it. I hope they rip in, can nearly guarantee they wouldnt tho.
