    Rounds open lads.

Very interesting looking at some of the top teams, there are some serious injury problems there, so if they are short on trades there are a few up there that could be up shit creek.

I took a punt on holding Friend which ended up being a lucky option to take, avoiding Smith - so unlucky for those that bought him cause it was the obvious move to take and effectively penalised those that had planned well throughout the season and not burnt all their trades (like me). Thats the luck aspect of Fantasy coming through though aye!

I may well now use my last trade to upgrade someone and then ride out the season with the team I've got. Whether it will be enough, who knows... but for now I could probably cover the odd injury, but nothing more than that, and I'll be hoping for a quick return of guys like Friend, Surgess, etc.

1st made 1 trade last week.

SJ - JDB. He's increased his lead and is looking good.
He can field a good team even if he has no trades to get rid of Gutherson and Surgess. if Tohu Harris misses some more games then he starts looking a little sus.

2nd made 0 trades last week
Has Cam Smith, Jake Friend, SJ, Gutherson, Surgess.
I'd say he's out of trades and in a little trouble.

I have Smith, Surgess and SJ to deal with this week. Probably only act on SJ, and hold the other 2, pending further news.

1st probably beyond me unless he gets some injuries, so would just like to stay in the top 10 and get some prize money

1008 my highest score of the year. With 2 trades left and only Surgess to worry about

    1 trade SJ - Pearce.

Then, assuming Surgess and CSmith both miss a week, have to play 2 of Taupau/CWalker/RTS.

    Very interesting!

I guess we will know this time next week if 1st has any trades left!

I think you are right about 2nd, all out of trades aye!

Tough for any of us to catch first though aye, unless he is out of trades and injuries keep on coming and one has trades to deal with them. Im thinking he might be all out though. Surely he would have grabbed Smith last round if he had another trade there. Perhaps he didn't have the $ though?

1st's other hooker is Brandon Smith. That's a big cash jump to bring in CSmith (or any other gun) So would take 2 trades to bring in Smith, and involve losing a gun elsewhere, probably not worth it at this point (even if Smith was fit)

Yes and No. If it was in his plans to bring Cam Smith back you would think he would have made one of those trades last week or the week before (that's how I would have played it anyway). So then he would have only needed one this week.

So that suggests it was in his plans all along (for several weeks now) was to run with just the one hooker, McInnes, for the season. Plausible but a pretty risky move, which I guess has paid off. It just seems odd that for a team with such a high value he didn't plan on bringing in the gun fantasy player....

Im not sure I buy it to be honest, I think he's running out/run out of trades!

    So last week I had:

    Smith captain
Joel Thompson ruled out so got Frawley's 20 as AE
    Lane reserve over Wallace
SJ on the pine with Walker and Cleary in the halves

Not a great week for me scoring 883 but hoping to finish inside the top 100 like in Fantasy.

Team with 6 trades left and 43k

    Smith (McInnes)
    JDB, Gallen (Brown, Twal)
Taumalolo, Mannering, Burgess (Taupau, Wallace, Lane)
    Cleary, Walker, (SJ, Frawley)
Crichton, J. Thompson (Fuimaono, L. Brown)
TTurbo, J. Roberts, Edwards (RTS, Whare)

Anyone see somewhere I can improve on? Was thinking going SJ > Pearce but not sure what else to do... Help!

    @MilfordTheMagician

Hey mate, my first take on your team is you have a ton of trades left, so I reckon your best bet is to use 2 this round and two the next to maximise your scoring over the remaining 6 rounds.

I'd definitely go SJ to Pearce as one trade. (means you can start Walker in your team only if you think the match up is good).

I'd seriously consider Cam to Macca too. I reckon Macca outscores Smith from here and if thats the case I think its a good trade. My gut tells me he misses time even when he comes back. But I've been told several times on this forum I', probably wrong there so grain of salt and all that. All I know is that so far this season he has missed way more time than previous seasons and I don't think its just injury related, I think age and the Storms place on the table are both factors.

That would mean you have ~120k in the bank for next round where I would upgrade 1 or 2 guys if you can. I think Vaughan/JTrbo could be good upgrade options for Taupau, and then perhaps Teddy/Munster for RTS.

That would leave you 2 trades for the next 4 rounds which is heaps I reckon, maybe 1 of this could be used in round 24 if you haven't had an injury to deal with by then. But more impertinently I reckon it gives you about as good a 17 as you can given your current situation.

All this is assuming Thompson is good for next round....

Hope this gives you a couple ideas mate.

SJ to Pearce I think is a good move. I'm making that trade myself this week.

With 6 trades I'd also consider upgrading Taupau. He had a big scoring run, but the current make up of the Manly team gives him less minutes and his scores are suffering. A bit of a luxury trade but you can go Taupau - Fifita if you want.

If you can improve Edwards or RTS into Munster/Tedesco I think that would also be a good move.
if you need cash at any point, I think Fui has past his usefuless and you can get $120k out of him if you need funds.

Thanks guys, appreciate it. I only got Smith in last week so if I need to trade him this week that hurts. Macca is the ideal replacement though. My main target is JTurbo and I think I'll get him next week. Vaughan, Fifita, Teddy and Munster are definitely the other 4 I am targeting. Not sure if I will be able to get them all in but we'll see!

I fully get that, and this is not intended to convince you to trade him, but I'd try and factor that out of your thinking aye. In reality it doesn't matter if you traded him in last round or 20 rounds ago. IF (big IF) it's the right move to get rid of him then you just gotta do it and suck up the unfortunate nature of him getting/re-aggravating an injury the round you buy him.

I liken it to investing in the stock market. People buy stocks and get attached to them, and even if something significant changes, they hold the stock because they don't want to cut their loses. I've seen a lot of people lose a lot of money because they couldn't bring them selves to factor in the new information so soon after they purchased the stock.

Anyway mate, best of luck with your decisions!

Was touch and go for a while when captain smith went down and Taupau put up a garbage score. King Gutho did just enough to bring me home

I'm in the same position with 2 trades left. I have A.Tolman but his average will certainly drop now that J.Graham is back.so I could go Tolman------>DeBelin
    or
Maybe it would be better to hold those 2 trades for more injuries. Don't know what to do.

You have a strong 17 NW. Wallace and Taupau are NOT major liabilities IMO.

You are light on depth, especially in HLF and WFB, so I would hold onto those last 2 trades as cover for any injuries that might occur in the last 6 rounds.
