Nice way to try and erase a decade of "WTF" moments from the Blues brains trust, but, just... no. If we did this every season, for five years, and kept losing (hell, I'll give you a rough 50% on the time frame), then sure... have a crack then.

Until then, you're just celebrating one win. Under a new coach, no less....

So can we all agree now that QLDs loyalty policy was only maintained as they had a convergence of once in a generation players who dragged the others with them? Those players make everyone look good, look at the storm team for proof or going back further Johns at Newcastle. it's easy to be loyal in those circumstances and winning.

so thats what's 10 years of getting your arse handed to you is like huh? One good win and you've all found one wholy irrelevant petty point to think your right about and start backslapping each other like it erases any of the lengthy QLD dynasty you've have to grind your teeth through.

i probs would have picked holmes over oates originally but i can't believe he was dropped after the game he had in game 1

i think you can justify all the other changes but dropping a guy who was realistically one of your best in game 1 for what could be considered a slight upgrade based on club form seems like a panic move in isolation

allso, its a sad sign of where the game is at when a guy is bought into an origin team basically as a specialist wrestler to slow the game down

when its something that has been harped on about and rubbed in the face of NSW supporters for years, yeah, we 100% will go on about it for at least a day or 2.
I am still in shock that they made so many changes after one loss. And they dropped guys who didnt deserve to be dropped.
    Crazy.

To be honest, I have never really taken notice of Glasby on the field. But considering he plays for melbourne you are prob spot on with the WWE stuff.

With how long the refs let players lay in the ruck and hold opposition players down in SOO, it could be a genuine concern for not just NSW, but for the flow of the game.

In fairness, he has recently relegated the Australian & NSW 18th man from starting for Melbourne to the bench.

Despite losing as much as we did we hardly ever had our ass handed to us. There were series losses on the back of 1 point victories or poor officiating.

QLD have had a dynasty and it's because they've had some of the best players ever playing all at the same time. They make each other better and it's quite easy to form combinations when you're the same team each year. They've been fantastic, let's take nothing away from them however the loyalty thing is a myth. Same as QLD having more passion.

Not necessarily the selections I would have made but I can't understand the moronic tards like Pieman frothing as if QLD are somehow falling apart at the seams.

For starters, by allowing the incumbents one last crack in Game 1 before this fresh approach, we have been able to maintain our loyalty policy that NSWelshman are clearly so jealous of (given all the recent comments).

Secondly, rather than being excited, the fresh approach should be worrying the shit out of the NSWelshman given the similar feel to 2006..... we all know what happened since that time.

The pressure on this Blues team must be mounting and almost unbearable because if somehow QLD can dig deep and conjure up a victory, the mindset of the NSW players going into Game 3 will be one of complete devastation and dejection after assuming and galavanting around as if 1 win was the start of a dynasty.

Really QLD are in a strong, no pressure and nothing to lose situation.

    No.

Since the start of 2015 he's started 36 of 47 matches. Of the 11 games where he came of the bench, 10 have been behind Bromwich and Glasby. Even in 2014, when he came back after the McKinnon suspension, he started 9 of 12 matches. In the other 3 games Bromwich and Norrie were props. In his 18 games before the suspension, he came off the bench in all of them.

How am I ya dumb carnt?

I said I like the changes, and agree with every single one. I even like the fact that boyd will play centre with gagai on the wing.

I think the team is actually much stronger than the first game's side.

The only think I have said, is that QLD Loyalty is a myth, and it has also now been debunked.

Yeah mate, cutting a good portion of the side after a loss screams loyalty lol. Good good. Letting them have a chance to redeem themselves is what they should have done, not fuck them off because of one bloody loss.

The side now has Smith, Cronk, Thurson, Slater. If QLD cant win with those blokes, 4 of the greatest players to ever play the game, all in awesome form - then well, this is another upset for the ages from NSW, if we can somehow win.

Who has said its the start of a dynasty?
It was a good win by NSW against a QLD side that was 1. missing thurston and 2. poorly selected.
QLD, with the replacements they have made, should come back and comfortably win this game, and the next in QLD.

NSW have a good chance with our excellent forwards and with hayne/tedesco in the side, plus playing at home.
QLD have a better than good chance with the big 3+thurston.

What about for his whole career? The guy has played 77 matches (wiki tells me).
So he has played half his career from the bench?

You're showing some Raffa style maths there Pieman. 47 + 12 + 18 = 77, so I've shown his whole career there. After starting his career on the bench, he made the starting team in his 20th game (the first game after the suspension was also off the bench), and has played 45 of 58 as a starter since then. That's 77%, which is pretty good considering the guy accepted as the world's best prop in that time has had a mortgage on one starting prop position.

As a comparison, Lockyer played 13 of his first 20 games off the bench, Thurston played 10 of his first 20 off the bench, Andrew Fifita played 19 of his first 20 off the bench (and 58 of his first 77 off the bench). Bit wrong to say to say he's been a bench player his whole career.

In true origin fashion I am interpreting Glasby as being the guy better than the prop deemed to be the next in line for Australia and NSW. Glasby will be the least of our problems. He'll have only one instruction he needs to follow - Do whatever Cam Smith tells you to do.

    I disagree.

This QLD side is dangerous, it's potent and it's dangerous. You have 4 of the best players in the comp in the spine.

Adding in Origin young bloods like Napa, Holmes, Wallace, Hess is going to make you very hard to contain through the middle.

I'm very nervous about what's ahead.

However what I disagree with is that QLD are in a no pressure and nothing to lose situation - this has the potential to derail QLD. There's already whispers that Walters didn't get the side he wanted game 1 now if he has the team he wants for game 2 and they get beat again what happens? Walters will be under pressure to retain his job. Then what happens next game? Blood more players or keep the faith? JT is gone next year. Cronk is undecided, there's a very real chance that you could be with brand new halves pairings. If QLD don't win this year they may struggle for years to come.

If NSW win they'll gain a heap of confidence for the future because the guys we have are so young and we could potentially retain the same side next year.

A lot of IFs to go over for sure - we'll know for sure Wednesday week.

    yeh nah fair enough mate
from game 1, the only QLD running forward that should be selected in the aus team is Gillet.
The aus team forwards should be
    Fifita Smith Woods
    Cordner Gillet
    Friz

    Graham
    Klemmer
    Jtrbo

the only other possible argument is Papalii over graham.

You lost me at Woods (though he did play okay for a change). McGuire would definitely be there based on game 1. Luckily teams aren't selected on the back of 1 game.

glasby is a plodder, but defends well and wrestles like smith, i dunno how all these media personalities haven't noticed him, i want a penalty awarded for every 2nd or 3rd tackle he makes when he plays the dogs, not as good as smith but he does it well.

the reason i like his selection is because QLD don't need to win the forward battle to win, they just limit the damage and slow us down, the periods they are on top, they still have the clearly superior spine to put enough points on the board

their bench will be under alot of pressure but ultimately its a much better team then game 1

starting cooper next to JT and moving papali to the middle over myles is massive upgrade to the starting team, as always first 20 will be vital and while the maroon bench is a bit of a ? their starting  pack is good enough to match ours
