    Judiciary Changes Empty Judiciary Changes

Have only had a quick look at it but it seems an improvement on the old system. Main changes are $1500 fines for some minor offences, and only having 3 gradings instead of 5.

Yeah, the 3 Grades should be an improvement.

Having 4 members down from 5 strikes me as strange though (not having any fucking idea how they work). Figured ou always want an odd number for breaking deadlocks.

Question: do they actually have an objective way for discriminating between grades? For example, the tripping grades, understand there is reflex action probably at one end of the spectrum and deliberate and dangerous at the other, but is that just a call they make between themselves or are there thorough guidelines written down?

With a fine being in lieu of suspension JWH might be able to spend some decent time on the field this year

Similar to Swedish road fines these misdemeanour fines should be % based not a flat rate. For the same offense Opalangafuku on minimum wage can't pay his rent while JT skips a latte. No real deterrent for JT to do it week in week out. NRL have registered contracts, sure 3rd parties aren't included but at least a % of base is fairer.

This is going to be lots of fun and games the first time we see 2 people commit a similar offence and one gets fined and the other cops a suspension.

I hope they use the fine as an incentive to start handing it out to players who abuse refs. At the moment you've got to give a pretty good spray (eg Klemmer) to be charged with contrary conduct. Hopefully, the fact players won't be suspended means the MRC is willing to dish out at least some punishment when guys like JT, Gallen and James Graham let rip, including when a try is scored and they get in the face of the ref to go to the video.

    Ditto Dippy

Would fucking love to see players getting fined for calling the ref Mate or his/her first name.
Fines for running at the ref after a try is scored demanding for a video replay.
Fines for the captain arguing with the referee.
Fines for the captain coming over to the ref when the ref hasnt asked them to, or after the ref has asked the player to go away.

I would love to see more control back in the refs hands.
