Some really solid names in there. Teddy, Roberts and Fergy into the side this year for me.

Boyd is huge. Wouldn't be a bad idea, you'd think with Daley there he'll get a look in as well being a Raider.

Re: NSW Blues
Do you reckon you could actually rely on James Roberts to have his head straight and turn up for Origin?

He did at the Titans, he's now got Mundine is his corner and Bennett as his mentor. He's off the Gold Coast and into boring ole Brisbane. There's no better position to be in. Mundine for all his detractors has done wonders for the guys he's looked after. Ferguson would have never turned his life around if it wasn't for the tough love from Choc.
I'm tipping he'll be there ahead of Jennings by series end.

Re: NSW Blues
Fair enough. The other worry I have is that in a shit team he didn't seem to go looking for the ball and create something enough. Obviously he will be surrounded by an Origin class team but so maybe he doesn't have to go looking.Honeysett wrote:SI wrote:Do you reckon you could actually rely on James Roberts to have his head straight and turn up for Origin?

On the plus side, I think defensively he has what it takes.

Did he ? It's a good story to say he took less money at the Broncos because he wants glory over cash when there wasn't an offer to compare it against. Questions would be asked if there wasn't an offer when he played out of his skin the season before.
It's 1 hr between Goldie & Bris, less if you are living in South Bris.
What has Mundine done ? Specifically
As for SI's question - See exhibit A - David Taylor

I assumed SI was talking about not getting on the drink and playing up, not weaseling his way out of a contract.
What has Mundine done? His training and his lifestyle of no drinking, smoking is a good influence to guys like Ferguson/Roberts who need that wiser older head who has grown up with the same kind of up bringing. He gets them on the straight and narrow. Gets them into boxing training which is pretty hectic and gives them a bit of an edge in training.

Re: NSW Blues
Roberts has what it takes to play origin. As he is eligible for NSW the longer he misses selection so he can play during the origin period for the Broncos the better.

Re: NSW Blues
duges switching to centre full time could make things interesting, i've got no issue picking a full time fullback in at centre for origin but i don't really fancy doing that in reverese
which could give teddy a chance if he stays healthy (i rather him to moylan )
jmoz and jennings start the year in front for the centre possies but roberts and digan are good enough to overtake them if they don't play well
i don't want fergy, he didn't jsut fuck up off the field, he did it during an origin camp after a good game 1 win, should be stamped never to be selected
2nd wing spot should just be one of the 4 centre's mentioned above, roberts would do a good job there, no more tuopou, hopoate etc
keen to see kane evans with bigger minutes early this year, him and klemmer off the bench would be awesome but kane may be another 12 months away
Wade graham is a must this year too

Couldn't agree more. Dude's a fucking beast, runs hard, strong in the tackle and has the ball skills to match.
Also agree in regards to someone like Roberts on the wing. Tupou doesn't seem to get involved enough, and if the kicking game isn't on point then his major positive (jumping in the air) is pretty much negated. Imagine Jennings bolting through the line and then you have Roberts coming up on the outside, would be the quickest centre/wing pairing for years I reckon

Choc is good at getting kids sorted out... And then convincing them that they should ask for million dollar contracts. Hahaha.

Is Latrell Mitchell a NSWelshman or is he another born in NSW that's a QLDer - for future reference obviously.

Wouldn't mind him starting over Scott/Jackson but a big ask pushing him back into the pack just for origin, off the bench would probably be best, covers so many positions and is uber talented
Friz has to be there this year, rate him much higher than JJ

NSW selectors don't have that much foresight. We prefer to make things hard for ourselves.
