Didn't know where to put this, but found out this morning that one of the guys in the dreamworld accident was from my year at school. Saw him just a week ago at our reunion.

Crazy shit to have happened. RIP dude

Sorry to hear that Milchy.  Not to sound morbid, but you just never know when it's your time.

It's alright No Worries, I'm sure much worse has been said on Facebook/Twitter whatever.

Having read into what happened I hope he went quickly because it sounds a fucking gruesome way to go.

Mate sorry to hear you knew the bloke because it's truly a fucked story.

The part that gets old OSM is hearing about the daughter when she realised she'd lost her Mum and the husband who went in to help but found out pretty quickly she/they weren't going to live through those sort of injuries.

Yeah mate I haven't heard specifically but am reading between the lines based on what occurred to the raft and what the ambo's said i.e. injuries incompatible with living......

On a separate but equally as morbid note, I heard some pretty ordinary details about how those two poor bastards died recently at the Eagle Farm racecourse job site - not good.

Sadly when your time's up, it's up.

I'm surprised by how many down votes it's attracted. While it's dark humour I thought it funny and people were being a bit precious.

But to topic at hand, having ridden that ride, I can't comprehend how the fuck it happened..

Gears, conveyor belts and human flesh. I don't think any more than injuries is going to be reported.

Don't get me wrong, I am a fan of dark humour.

It just needs to have the humour bit included....

This article has a bit of a fancy diagram showing what happened

    http://www.couriermail.com.au/news/queensland/dreamworld-deaths-ride-previously-shut-down/news-story/fc26918b83c58b095c795bcd34f1e815

The scary thing about it is that the ride was effectively over. They were just waiting to get off and go about their day, and then seconds later they were gone.

On a lighter note, my Facebook feed understandably has a lot of tributes/OMFG messages about this, and I've seen condolence messages from the old high school teacher that originally gave me the name "Milchcow" - its a nickname that's over 25 years old now.

Yeah i know, just naturally curious as to if it was instant death almost. Its unbelievable. Any moment could be ur last wherever u are.

I'd love to see a diagram or model showing the underneath. I genuinely cannot fathom thay between boat and gears/belt is just water. Like a smoothed out belt that stops stuff getting through, by the way clearly im not an engineer.
Was the snowy river rampage at wonderland the same setup... jeesuz !

Yeah i was there for 7 years. I'm at bank now. A lot of close friends have seen some terrible things from this absolutely horrific freak accident. All round its so sad for what has happened.

From a personal stand point I can't see how Dreamworld will be able to continue operate after the ensuing court cases and the fuckton of new regulations that will have to be put in place. To me that is a horrible thing to think of as there is nearly 4000 jobs at stake but its a reality that we may have to face.
