Salary Cap Cheats?

RLW_Mole tweeting that another Rugby League team is involved in a Salary Cap issue and it isn't Parramatta. Says the drama will come out in the next week or so..

Probably a procedural breach, or a team played too many kids on minimum wage in the Toyota Cup. Theres half a dozen of those offences every year, usually ends in a 10-20k fine and nothing more said.

Titans owned by the NRL, with cap space and havn't had a hooker for years. makes alot of sense, NRL still wants eels under the cap so i could see the titans forking up more in 2016 then most other clubs would offer


As long as titans get at least a 2 and half year deal out of it, will be a great 9 for their young halves 17' onwards

Re the Rumour, der, of course there are other clubs rorting and now that the auditors have a better handle o the additional types of things that clubs are doing, others will follow suit for sure, its only a matter of time.

Re Peats, really disappointed in this news. All we needs to do was keep Peatss, Foran and Norman and week to week we would be competitive, but losing the 9 is a big blow I think.

I know a number of people are saying we have some depth in the 9 in De Gois, Pritchard and Cody Nelson going forward, but none of those guys are borderline NSW selections and are a BIG downgrade. Not sure why, if Paulo moving on gets us close, we wouldn't send him on his way.

It's done, no need to talk rumour anymore.

His salary is taken on in some way shape or form and the cap issue is easier to manage.

The whole way of the nrl have handled this is just wrong. Including breaches from previous years that are already included in this punishment in this years cap is wrong and they have only done it to force players out. Now a huge problem arises if when parra submit their response that 700k from 13/14/15 gets moved back to the correct years that they overspent parra have lost players from 16 and are well under the cap but no way of getting the players back.

The mole rumour has come from that "bagman" story. I doubt much will come from it. They only way to prove it these days is if someone gets fired and comes out and reveals everything.

A problem also arises when an important club figure just ups and leaves and therefore they have no evidence.

I think the NRL needs them to lose players so it looks as if they've been punished however I would have thought the points deduction did enough to do that.

To be honest we shouldn't be dirty on the NRL, the Eels have attempted to cheat to gain an advantage. Anyone that does this deserves to be dealt with no matter how harshly.

I might not fully agree with the NRL's decision but I'm certainly not dirty on them.......I do feel for the playing group though.

Not only did they cheat to try and gain an advantage, something that will taint them for ever, but what they did effected so many other clubs.
This year alone they were allowed to bring in Foran, Gordon, Gutherson?, Scott and prob a few others illegally. It means that other clubs missed out on legally getting a go at these players and over the years it has the potential to totally re-shape the league, or really fuck a few clubs up.

I hated it when Melbourne did it - they cheated and were allowed to keep the best players from their illegally formed roster.
I bet the same thing will happen with Parra too. "Oh we will shed all these no names or someone thats towards the end of their career to get under the cap" (I'm aware they lost Inglis and hoffman for a year) but you get what I mean. They may not have been able to bring those 2 blokes to the club in the first place if they werent cheating.

Personally, I think the contracts that were signed last should be the ones that are made null and void. The players then sue the club/nrl for allowing them to register the illegal contracts and they make their money back that way, and they get picked up by other clubs with parra paying a percentage of their wages for a few years.

They should have to shed the blokes that were most recently added to the line up, not reserve graders or someone who has been there for years.

Does the coach's wage come under the cap too?

If Parra are allowed to keep Foran, Gordon, Scott and anyone else who has signed or re-signed within the last couple of years - then its the exact same thing.

It's pretty clear what a club has to do if it comes under suspicion.

If you go along with the NRL and allow any kind of investigation, prepare to be spanked and sat in the naughty corner.

If instead you tell them to get stuffed, retire off a staff member with some cushy "Gee thanks for jumping, mighty nice of you" pay, you are right to continue on with BAU.

Given that, its surely another "Classic Moley" where he's throwing shit hoping something sticks, no way anyone gets caught from here. Surely.
